Hi I'm Rick

I grew up in Seattle. I am a computer information specialist, a Scouter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the out of doors, enjoying gardening, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. I have been involved in scouting since a young age and enjoy the opportunity to help young people develop character and leadership in their lives. I have been married for over 30 years and have 4 wonderful children three of whom are married with 6 granchildren. I enjoy my family and living in a rural setting. I work for a computer company from home and enjoy a wonderful life even with the challenges that come our way.

Why I am a Mormon

At the conclusion of my time in high school I suppose I was trying to find my direction in life. When I came in contact with the church I first saw the commitment to scouting which I had been a part of since I was 8. That along with the family that introduced me I began to study, attend and consider the role of religion in my life. After meeting with the missionaries, reading and praying I just had a feeling in my heart that this was a path to enter. So I made the first commitment in the waters of baptism. I then attended BYU for one year and left on a full time mission. Over the years I have continued to study the standard works of the church (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price) along with the writings of many of the Prophets and Apostles. The impressions of the spirit have continued to grow and increase as I learn and then apply correct principles taught by those who have been called of God and duly authorized to administer His gospel. I continue on the path because of the spirit I continue to feel on a daily and weekly basis that fills my life with meaning, peace and security. I can witness with every fibre of my being that the Lord has restored the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, revealed the great plan of happiness (plan of salvation) and once again placed his priesthood authority on the earth. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful wife and family and the knowledge that we are on the path and that following that path will allow us to enjoy the same society with those loved ones in eternity is a great comfort to me. I know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of the Living Father and that through him all men can return to God the great father of us all.

How I live my faith

I volunteer with the Boy Scouts and have served in many capacities for most of my adult life. I have volunteered many hours to the local schools teaching students about engineering and engaging them in hands on learning. I have served in many capacities in the church including service as a full time missionary when I was young in Argentina. I love to serve people and do so as a home teacher in the church. This provides many opportunities to assist others in finding the Savior, and living his teachings. I study the scriptures daily and love to take time out to pray (converse) with God. I have participated in many community service projects with both the scouts and the church. We love to gather, support a good cause in our community and then eat a little food before we return home.
