Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Suzanne

I'm a grandma. I've been called to serve a mission in Ghana Africa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to the same childhood sweetheart for 30 years and have 3 grown children and 5.8 grandchildren. I was a very satisfied homemaker for 15 years, then I started a real estate company and have worked in that field for the past 15 years. I love the outdoors - camping, fishing, gardening and I love music - piano, flute, organ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church and had many spiritual experiences in my youth that confirmed that what I was being taught was true so I've always chosen to stay close to the Church. The fullness of the Gospel has brought me great, continual, happiness and peace in my life.

How I live my faith

I've had the opportunity to serve others in many ways over the years. I was a leader working with young children for 3 years. I was a Cub Scout Den Leader for 5 years. I was a leader working with teenagers for 9 years - teaching lessons and organizing activities to help them stay out of trouble. I've been an piano accompanist for solos, choirs and congregations for most of my life. I've worked with groups providing music to seniors at nursing homes for 6 years. I've participated in Paint the Town, Rake Up Boise, The Idaho Food Bank, Race For The Cure, and several other non-profit community and real estate organizations.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Suzanne
It allows us to be forgiving and every relationship needs that. Christ has already paid the price for their shortcomings, and we can't ask for more if we expect that same payment to cover sins of our own. His example should influence us to be like Him, thus making us better and improving all relationships. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Suzanne
No. Some other factions broken off from the church do. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has not practiced polygamy since 1890 AD. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Suzanne
Obviously the costs of missions vary depending on where they serve in the world. Missionaries who are young men and women pay an equal amount each month - no matter where they serve, and the balance needed for the actual cost is provided by others through the missionary fund. Anyone can contribute to the missionary fund. These young men and women are encouraged as young children to save for their own mission. The equal amount helps them plan, budget and save so they are prepared when they are old enough to go. Senior missionaries pay the entire cost to serve, so it varies depending on where they serve.  Show more Show less

The priesthood is all about service and organization of the church. Jesus Christ organized the church and has always designated who will hold the priesthood and dictated how His priesthood is to be used. Just as with the Levites in the Bible. There are many other opportunities for women to serve in the church - working with the primary, Sunday school, young women, and relief society. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Suzanne
After the crucification of Christ and the martyrdom of His apostles, the priesthood was lost, the organization of His church was lost so revelation ceased and the doctrine became corrupt. This falling away was a prophecy 2 Thess. 23 The Bible were individual books of scripture that were assembled between 1300-1500 AD and translated into other languages. Through time and many translations, many parts of the Bible were lost. The Book of Mormon is a pure account - it is a second witness and contains a fullness, and clarifies the lost parts of the Bible. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Suzanne
You must have a temple recommend to enter the temple. This recommend is issued after interviewing with the Bishop and Stake President. Specific questions are asked to determine worthiness and understanding of gospel principles. Nothing secret goes on in the temple, but it is the the House of God and so it is sacred. Prepared individuals receive ordinances necessary for eternal life and exaltation. They learn of God and worship Him there. Vicarious ordinances are performed for the dead such as baptism. So much of it is symbolic that it is simply not understood by those not prepared to receive it. It's unwise to make covenants with God for which you are not prepared. It would be like expecting a 2 year old to correctly answer complex calculus questions without knowing how to add, subtract, multiply or divide. Before a temple is dedicated to the Lord, there is an open house for several days in which anyone can enter to see its beautiful architecture, and learn about what happens inside. Joseph Smith lived in Palmyra New York and there was a lot of controversy regarding religion there at the time. He wondered which church was correct and couldn't come to any conclusions by himself so he decided to take the counsel from James 15 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him". So, in the spring of 1820, at the age of 14, he entered a stand of trees near his house and knelt to pray vocally for the first time. God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him that none of the churches were correct and not to join any of them. Show more Show less
