Hi I'm Joe

I'm a grad student, a husband, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Basically, I'm just a happy guy. I was married just over a year ago to the love of my life and we just moved to Spokane, WA. We both recently graduated with our bachelors degrees and are loving newly-wed life together. I just started grad school studying Physical Therapy. Three years from now you can call me Dr. Joe! I LOVE hiking and anything outdoors really. I also enjoy running, playing soccer and playing guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found great happiness and peace in living the teachings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. In a crazy messed up world, its amazing to be able to be optimistic and excited about my future. That's only possible because of my belief in a loving Heavenly Father, and His wonderful plan for happiness. I grew up in a Mormon family, and I'm very grateful for that. There came a time, however, as a teenager, when I figured out that I needed to make my own choices about what I believed to be true. My parents and the church had always said, "you don't have to believe us...pray and ask God what he wants you to do." So that's what I did...and He answered me. I have prayed many, many times for guidance in my life. I have come to know, for myself, that the Mormon church is Jesus Christ's true church on the earth today. I know that the church holds answers to life's greatest questions. I also know that families are able to live together FOREVER, not just "till death do us part," through God's great plan. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to make my faith every part of who I am, and part of my everyday life. I pray many times a day to give thanks, to ask for guidance, and to pray for those I know and love. I study the Bible and The Book of Mormon often to learn of Jesus Christ, and to find out how to live a good life. I try to be like Jesus, meaning that I try to love others, and treat them kindly. I smile A LOT, because life is good, and I am very blessed.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Joe
Mormons pretty much live normal lives. We do have standards that many people in the world disagree with or don't live i.e. we don't drink alcohol, smoke, drink coffee or tea, no premarital sex, no viewing of pornography, dressing modestly, etc. These standards, however, don't keep us from living happy and fun lives. My lifestyle includes playing & watching sports, listening to music, playing the guitar, watching movies, surfing the internet, spending time with my wife, playing games, and hiking and camping. We attend church every Sunday, and have a heavy emphasis on spending lots of time with family. We try to spend time doing good things for people around us, and for the community. Show more Show less
