Hi I'm David O

I love my family, friends and every deep breath I take. I am a Mormon.

About Me

In my twenties I was diagnosed with cancer. I went through treatments and surgery and have since been in the monitoring phase of cancer treatment. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't scared about being diagnosed with cancer. However, because I knew that God has a plan for his children and that He loved us, I was able to see how much He loves me. Without the support of my family and friends it would have been difficult to get through the difficult times. At first I was shocked to be diagnosed with something like cancer at a young age, however, I also wondered why seemingly bad things happen to good people. As time goes on, I realize that I shouldn't be surprised that hard times find good people. We can get through any trials or hard times with the help of family, friends and our faith in God. I know that if it weren't for my faith, family and friends, then the hard times would be harder and overwhelming. Yet because of family, friends and faith hard times are times to rejoice in the closeness and love that comes from those who surround you.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving family where the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught all the time. I have continued to follow the gospel because of my love for God and my family. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace and joy and I always feel like I have a plan of what I am doing and where I am going. The gospel gives me guidance in a world of differing opinions and everchanging philosphies. I have a knowledge that God loves his children and is mindful of who we are and what we have become. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures and praying daily. I also go to church every Sunday for worship services. I also try to particpate in weekly meetings with other single adults where we do fun activities and get to know one another. Participating with other single adults allows me to feel included with people of my age group and find comfort with people who share my same beliefs and standards.

What is the First Vision?

David O
The First Vision is when Joseph Smith prayed to know which church was true and he received a glorious visitation from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ in 1820 in upstate New York. They spoke to Jospeh and told him to join none of the churches that existed at that time. Through this and other experiences Joseph was called to be a prophet, like Moses, Abraham and other prophets of The Bible. The First Visions teaches us not only that God reveals his truths to prophets, but also that we can receive answers to our prayers. Show more Show less
