Hi I'm Maureen

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. I'm a stay at home mom. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom of one. She keeps me pretty busy. I have a few hobbies. One is I love coloring, cutting, doing new things with my hair. I love decorating my home in new and inexpensive ways. I love to quilt. I just started that up and it's a very fun thing to do. I'm training for a 10k. I'm not a runner but I'm doing pretty good so far if I can stay healthy. I like to laugh and have a good time.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ since I was very young. My parents joined the church after looking around at other church for a few years. They joined and I have been a member ever since. Even though my parents joined the church, I still wanted to find my testimony or make sure that this church was right for me. I was talking to one of my friends who was about to go on a mission for our church. He gave me a challenge to read the Book of Mormon and then pray if the church was true. I did that challenge and the rest is history. I knew the church was true. I had the best feeling in the world. I haven't looked back since. I was able to serve a mission for our church as well, which was a wonderful experience for me. I loved every moment of it. Also to see how people lives changed like my parents when they joined the church over 30 years ago. It may seem that my life is just great, but I still have challenges and heartache like you or anyone else. I turn to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in pray to help me overcome these issues. Sometimes it comes the way I wish and sometimes not. It isn't easy, but I know this church is true. To many blessing and wonderful things have come my way for me to turn away from this awesome church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the teachings and principles of the gospel or what we teach to our members. I have had several callings or serve opportunities in our ward and others that I have lived in my life. I have helped in the women's organzition, young teenager girls, young children programs and I have helped plan Activities for our Ward like Christmas parties, etc. All of these serve opportunities have helped me become more familiar with our members of our ward and learn valueable skills like home making skills, organization of money, planning large parties and cooking. I loved all of them and do miss some of these as well. I do get to do some visits with my husband. This is called home teaching. We get to do visit with our daughter and visit with members in our ward. This is a great time for all of us to be together but to get to know our member on a deeper level. I enjoy them a lot.
