Hi I'm Heidi

I am a daughter, a mother, a wife, a sister, a coach and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of four children...two born healthy, one born with a life-threatening heart condition and one born still on Christmas morning. Each child is a miracle to us and teaches us about faith, joy, patience, reliance on the Lord and hope of eternal families. I was a competitive swimmer growing up and am now blessed to teach swimming. My days consist of blogging, learning ABC's, singing off-key, building legos and helping friends. I love life and wouldn't change the ups and downs, occasional chaos, triumphs or set-backs for anything. They are molding me into a better person and preparing me to return to live with Heavenly Father and my family forever.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 17, my best friend got into a life-threatening accident. I questioned the purpose of life and why bad things happen to good people. On the way to the hospital I prayed for answers and a feeling of peace came over me. I knew someone heard my prayers. A few days later, a friend told me about the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. As he talked I was again filled with peace, warmth and comfort. The examples of my parents Christ-like love and the feelings of the Spirit when I read the Book of Mormon, attended church, prayed and the took missionary discussions led me to the waters of baptism. Choosing to follow Christ and joining His Church has changed my life forever. It truly was the best decision of my life!!

How I live my faith

Living my faith is putting Christ's teachings into action. It is sharing Christ's love with others. This is often done in the small and simple moments of life. A quick phone call or visit to a friend. Saying "I am sorry," "I love you," and "I am proud of you" to my husband or child. Being slow to judge and quick to forgive. Some days go better than others. I have found that when I put another before myself, the Lord blesses my life, magnifies my time and fills me with His spirit. There is no better feeling than showing another that they are loved!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

When the Missionaries visited my home they taught me who Jesus Christ is and how we can communicate with him. They taught me about where we came from, why we are here and where we are going. They always brought a wonderful Spirit into the home, never made me feel stupid, and always tried to make things simple for me to understand. I am grateful for the missionaries that taught me.       Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

We believe our lives are sacred gifts from God. As such, the Church does not believe in elective abortion for personal or social reasons. Pregnancies where the mother or baby are in danger or are a result of rape or incest are exceptions and parents are advised to seek guidance from prayer and church leaders. Doctors advised me to terminate two of my pregnancies due to life threatening birth defects. My husband and I are grateful for the Church's council to seek the Lord. Through prayer, we felt our sons were loved by our Heavenly Father and meant to be in our family. One currently lives with a life-threatening condition and the other was born still. Both are blessings in our lives! God is the only one who really knows what we are going through when faced with such a difficult decision. He will individually guide and lift us in our journey and bless our lives as we follow His council. He will not leave us comfortless!   Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is something that you know to be true through the power of the Holy Ghost. Prayer allows us to ask God if something is true and the Spirit or Holy Ghost allows God to communicate with us. The Holy Ghost is often recognized as feelings of peace, warmth, comfort or assurance.  Show more Show less
