Hi I'm Annika

I'm a designer, a wife, a mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am doing what I always wanted, being a wife and mother to my three children. My days are filled with sticky fingers, slobbery kisses, fun surprises just as we're ready to head out the door... and daily association with my favorite people in the whole world. On top of it all, I am blessed to be married to my best friend. Together we enjoy photography, completing projects around the house and discovering the great outdoors with our little family. We're blessed to live in an area saturated with natural beauty and have yet to be anything but amazed by what we find. Though I am the first born in my family, my brother Edgar is 45 years my senior. Edgar was born with Down Syndrome and when I was seven years old he was invited to live in our home and become part of our family. He was an angel on earth and many of my greatest memories involve him. At the time of his passing, just two years ago at the age of 72, Edgar was the oldest living man with Down Syndrome in the world. I was blessed beyond measure to have him in my life and miss him dearly. I love the quote from Edgar A. Guest, "I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day." Edgar's life was the sermon he could not speak. When time permits I love to sit at my sewing machine and design sewing patterns for my shop, Bugga Bugs - www.buggabugs.com. I love designing toys for children and get so much joy from designing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to grow up in a family strong in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From an early age my parents taught me that through faith, personal scripture study and thoughtful prayer I could develop a real and personal relationship with my Savior. It's because of that relationship my testimony became what it is today - and still continues to grow. My testimony has lifted me through times of trial and helps me feel the love my Savior and Heavenly Father have for me as an individual. It has helped me to realize that even in this world of trial and wickedness there is peace and joy through righteous living. I love the principles of the gospel. I love the happy nature of the members of the church, the joy they find in serving others and the consistent way they strive to love the Lord and do as He would have them do.

How I live my faith

Each night we kneel together in family prayer. We give thanks for the blessings we have received and ask our Heavenly Father for the needs we have as well as the needs we see in others. We read our scriptures and attend worship services each Sunday. We spend time as a family every Monday night learning about a specific gospel principle and playing fun games together. We try to make our home a place where the gospel is fully lived and the spirit can always be present, a place of refuge for each family member as well as any visitors who come. We also attend the temple to feel closer to our Heavenly Father and receive personal inspiration. All these things help us to love and serve as the Lord would have us both in our home and in the world.
