Hi I'm James David Madden

I am married with 3 kids, trying to finish school and battling crohns disease, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am right now a stay at home dad who is trying to recover from a surgery from Crohns disease that put me in the hospital for a month. My wife had to fall back on her eduction as a Registered Nurse to support our family. I have 2 daughters and a son. My family is my life and we enjoy going and doing fun things like hiking, fishing, bowling, going to the beach, swimming, camping and playing games. I was attending school when I got sick and when I was in the hospital on my death bed I felt that moving closer to our family was what we were suppose to do. We put our House on the market and within a month our house was sold and we moved closer to family where we have been enjoying the relationships that have been growing stronger every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life. I attended church from the time I was adopted as an infant to right now. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and my conversion happened to me slowly through the years till I was around 16 years old. I always felt good about going to church but when I turn 16 I knew I had to make a choice. I decided that the friends I have and the way I live is the way that I want to live for the rest of my life. I decided that I was going to go on a mission and serve the Lord and to share my love for the Savior. As I was on my mission in those 2 years my love for the Savior grew. I knew and know that He lived and died for us. That through Him we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father. That Joseph Smith was a Prophet and translated the Book of Mormon and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I never regret the Choice I made when I was 16. Because of that Choice I met my wife and have 3 children and have never been as happy as I am now.

How I live my faith

I have been working with the youth 12-17 year olds for the last 10 years and I have been having so much fun. Mostly I have been working in the Scouting program. I love the outdoors and try and share my enthusiasm with the young men in developing social skills that they will need in their journey through their teen years. I do on occasion get sucked into playing video games with them but as long as we are having fun I don't care what we do. I enjoy talking to the young men and relating with them at their level. Most of them just want to be heard and to put them in scouts and have them plan the activities and do things that they want to do makes things more fun for them. It is nice to be along for the ride and to guide them to making good choices. My goal is to help as much as I can and to develop friendships that will last.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

James David Madden
600 years before Christ was born there was a prophet in Jerusalem by the name of Lehi. He prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem and later was told to take his family and leave. When he left he wrote a journal/history of his family and the things that had happened physically and spiritually to them. This record was passed down from generation and to different prophets throughout the history of the writings. Lehi traveled to the America's where the history of his family was recorded and later was brought all together by another prophet named Mormon. It is a shorten compilation of prophets of God, containing revelations and their testimonies of Jesus Christ. Later Joseph Smith translated the writings of these ancient prophets by the gift and power of God. Show more Show less
