Hi I'm Keegan

I wear a CASIO calculator watch, I'm Mormon, and I'm Happy

About Me

I grew up the oldest of five boys and count each of my brothers as some of my best friends. It is hard to say exactly where I’m from since I have moved over 20 times in my life but I think that Alpine Utah is where I call home. I am currently going to school in Arizona to become an optometrist. I’m married to the funniest, cutest girl I know. We love good food, both cooking and eating it, good movies, good laughs and good friends. Our greatest love is parenthood and with our two kids we feel spoiled. They are the best. When there is nothing else to do I will grab my camera and snake stick and head off to the hills in search of a good picture of the local wildlife. I see the beauty around me as a sign that God is real and loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

With a college degree in Biology I guess you could consider me a man of science. I have always enjoyed the chance to experiment and test the laws of nature. I have taken the same approach with regards to my belief in God and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was most active in my investigation in my youth. I had been introduced to the gospel teachings and told that if I lived according to them my life would be blessed. I began my experiment by committing, through baptism, that I would follow the teachings found in this church and then take note of how my life is affected by them. It has almost been twenty years since that commitment was made and I continue to recommit myself every week. I no longer consider my life as an experiment rather I am applying the precious Truths that I learned early on in that trial period. I have them written in journal and on my heart. Though I may not be able to explain exactly the workings behind the force of gravity, but through personal experience I know that it exists. Likewise I know that God is real and his teachings, authority and power are found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I invite you to investigate these teachings, apply them and take note of how they bring meaning and true joy to your life.

How I live my faith

My faith is in Jesus Christ and I feel the greatest way to show that is to strive to be like him. His example of service to others is something I try to follow. As a member of His church I am given ample opportunities to serve other church members but also members of my community. For example, I am an Assistance Scout Master for my local Boy Scout Troop. The church works heavily with this organization to provide leadership for these groups because of the values that are instilled in these scouts. These same values are taught in the mormon church. We support any organization that endorses such values as being "honest, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent." My greatest source of happiness comes from family. By living my faith I am showing my children where they will be able to find peace and true happiness. The world is constantly changing but rarely for the better. The best hope for our children exposing them to truth and allowing them to recognize the difference from what the world would teach them. With good examples to follow they have a better chance at success.
