Hi I'm Dustin

I'm a surfer. I play guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 25 years of age and married to a beautiful woman! I am a college student in California studying political science. I enjoy music, surfing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, and all team sports. I am currently serving as the Scoutmaster to the Boy Scout troop in my congregation.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been in the church for over 7 generations since the Restoration. But thats not why I am a Mormon. Growing up I had my own questions about the truthfullness of the gospel and I had a few occasions throughout my young years where I had to kneel and ask God for myself if this really was His church on the earth. The answer I got was "yes." The gospel brings me peace, happiness and guidance that I know I would not have without it.

How I live my faith

Many people see the standards of the gospel as restrictive and a burden. For me, the yoke of the gospel is a yoke that I share with my savior Jesus Christ. Matthew 1128-30 When I yoke myself with Christ and follow His teachings to the letter, my life and my burdens become easier. I strive to follow everything He and His servants ask of me, because that is the very reason why I have been given this time on Earth.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Many people think Mormons live like the Amish. On the contrary we live standard lives just like most other people you know, minus a few things that set us apart. Those few things are part of the standards we live by. We don't drink alcohol, coffee or tea. We don't use tobacco or drugs. We stay away from movies that contain violence, immorality and bad language. We dress modestly and don't tatoo or pierce our bodies other than a single ear pierceing on each ear for women. On Sundays along with attending our church services we refrain from the media and working or causing others to work by shopping. Why do we do all of these things? We believe that our lives are a gift from God and that our only purpose is to follow Him and receive all that He has to give us through our righteousness. We refrain from certain things because we believe that God has asked us to. While you may think we are missing out, we find that we are happier by doing so and that our families are stronger.
