Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I still can speak Italian after serving a mission in Italy 30 years ago. I served 20 years in the US Army and now work for the United States Post office as a letter carrier. I also worked as a sports official for about 12 years and did soccer, basketball, and baseball routinely, plus volleyball and flag football off and on.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church when I was 14 after reading about the pioneers to the western United States and having attended a religious based elementary school for three years in the eastern United States. I had often read the Bible and even knew many scriptures by heart. When I prayed to know about the topics the missionaries told me about, the feelings came that the things they told me were true. As I have served in various places and positions over the years I have felt numerous feelings of comfort, correctness, and good because I want to follow the Lord and HIs teachings. I also served a Church mission in Italy during the 1970's and loved interacting with other members around the world..

How I live my faith

I strive to attend my Church meetings each week, follow the guidance of local, area, and worldwide Church leaders. I seek to keep the commandments, share the bounty the Lord has blessed me with, and share the good news that I feel the Lord has let me hear and follow. I currently visit four families every month to keep them informed of what is going on at church and let them know many individuals are concerned about them. I also visit a separate congeregation of members on a nearby island to advise and assist them as needed.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Andrew
The Bible has been around for a long time but many churches have such conflicting ideas about what some verses mean and have even gone to war over beliefs throughout history. I believe that the Bible is the word of God and have read it in Italian, French, and several different English translations. Even when comparing two of those languages simultaneously you can see why there is some confusion about what some verses mean. I feel it is important to understand that the Lord inspires men to write what they feel and understand. One set of scripture in Jeramiah talked about the king who burned the scrolls of the writings and Jeremiah re-wrote them and added more to them the second time. Show more Show less
