Hi I'm David

I'm a dental student from Utah, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is David, I was born in Utah and have been a member of the church my whole life. Like most kids I played sports, soccer, baseball, football, but wasn't very good at them. After graduating high school I went on a 2 year mission to Lubbock Texas and was able to teach many people about Christ and about his plan of happiness. As I watched people change their lives to come to know the Savior it was a humbling testimony for me that the gospel of Jesus Christ is real and when we seek Him out we are sure to find him. I went to college after my mission, graduated in Biology and am now attending dental school in the Midwest. I am not sure what life will bring in the future but I do know that as I trust in the Lord and follow his commandments He will guide me to where I can do the most good.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a life long member of the Mormon faith, but there always comes a point where one has to decide for themselves if they really believe. I am not perfect, and have made plenty of mistakes, but as I have committed myself to living the gospel of Christ and I have found a great purpose in life, strength to fight through adversity and the power through Christ to overcome trials. The LDS faith as taught me how to find the Lord and develop a personal relationship with him that I have not found anywhere else. We all have to become convinced in our minds and hearts of what truth is. For me, in reading the scriptures I have learned for myself who God is and where I stand in his sight. I know that the LDS faith is true is due to the Bible and the Book of Mormon as evidence that God has spoken to us through ancient prophets, and that he still speaks through prophets today. I am convinced that Joseph Smith was an honest man and indeed called by God to be a prophet and reorganize the Lords church amidst a world of religious confusion, and I am deeply grateful that I can be a part of it.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church allows for many opportunities to serve others. I currently am a leader of young single adults men in my congregation. We sing together, read scripture, participate in service projects, hang out, and help one another come closer to the Savior. It's great to be among a group of guys who are all trying to get closer to the Lord and live the commandments to the best of their abilities. Overall I live a pretty normal life, I go to school, hang out with friends, play video games, go to the movies, and read a lot. One difference is that the the Mormon faith as taught me how to seek out and participate in wholesome, character building activities rather than degrading, mind numbing, destructive behaviors. Living the gospel has helped me recognize those things that will bring me closer to the Lord, and those things that will only lead to regret and sorrow. From being Mormon I can now see there is a lot less gray area.
