Hi I'm Susan

I'm a mom and a student. I help children become better readers. I love music and writing. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of two terrific kids. My son, the youngest, is on the autism spectrum and is full of everyday miracles. The eldest is an inspiration to me with her confidence and good nature. My family brings out the best in me...one way or another! In my work as a paraprofessional, I strive to pass on my love of learning and literacy. Working along side educators in the classroom, I see the challenges and rewards of the teaching profession. In the fall of 2011, I returned to school to so I can complete my degree in elementary education. I especially enjoy working with kindergarten through second grade. Other activities I enjoy are reading, writing and playing music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the example a wonderful LDS family I met years ago. They welcomed me into their home with open arms and became good friends to me. I observed in their home a sense of love and happiness I’d never felt anywhere else. The reason for their family’s joy was the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Then, when I was expecting my first child, I remembered this family's example and wanted my daughter to grow up in home where that same spirit of love and joy dwelled. I decided to learn more about their church. Two missionaries took the time to explain Heavenly Father's plan of happiness for me. Over the course of our discussions, I found answers to questions that I couldn't find in other churches. The gospel was true; I knew it in my heart and in my mind. I was baptized a couple months later and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I now have a better understanding of who I am and the importance of family relationships. Life has meaning and purpose, even in the midst of sorrow or joy. The gospel keeps me on a steady path and presents so many opportunities for growth.

How I live my faith

It is my hope that who I am, and all that I do, is a reflection of my faith in Jesus Christ.
