Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm a husband, father and a pilot in the US Air Force. I can make a mean omelette. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 27. My wife and I have been married since 2008. We have two boys. I earned a bachelor degree, am working on a Masters and the US Air Force taught me how to fly. I enjoy flyfishing, canyoneering and tickling my sons.

Why I am a Mormon

I try to align my life with the teachings of this Church because it has always proven to bring me peace and security in the past. I have come to know through study and prayer that I am a child of God and I have a purpose. This Church also makes it possible for me and my family to continue to be "me and my family" after death. And I love my family! I am a Mormon because I know through study and prayer that God has revealed additional ancient scripture. I am a Mormon because I know through study and prayer that God's written word ie the Bible is true and He answers those who pray. I am a Mormon because I know through study and prayer that God continues to speak to prophets today. I am a Mormon because the teachings of Christ bring peace in a restless world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live as Christ lived and taught. I try to be a loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor. I try to live humbly so I can give more to those have less. I attend Sunday service and teach Sunday School to high school age kids weekly. I try to study God's Word daily and try to pray to Him continually. I try to be kind in word and deed. I try to practice the Golden Rule.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

This is a very important question and maybe the most incorrectly understood doctrine of this Church. We believe that Christ is the Son of God. He is our Savior and Redeemer. He suffered and died on the cross for the sins of the whole world. Through faith in Christ we can receive forgiveness, peace and sanctification. He is the only way back to our Heavenly Father. His teachings are the bedrock of this Church just as they were when Christ himself called Peter and others to be the apostles and prophets of the Church in ancient times. When Christ was Resurrected He continued to guide His Church through his apostles and prophets. I know that Christ similarly leads this Church today through his modern apostles and prophets.  Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible is Holy Scripture. It is the Word of God. We take great care to study the Bible and apply the teachings found therein. We know that many have sacrificed so that we can have the Bible today, William Tyndale to name just one disciple. Tyndale’s work became the foundation for almost all future English translations of the Bible, most notably the King James Version. So we mostly study the King James Version. But we also are willing to admit that people have made mistakes when translating or copying the Bible in ancient days. As Joseph Smith said, "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly." Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

The best way is to point your mouse at the top of the page over "Visit Us" and click on "Meet with Missionaries" They are very friendly and respectful. They won't be pushy, I promise. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I do. And why not? God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Show more Show less
