Hi I'm Doug

I'm a college student. I love basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I work hard in all my classes. I love sports, especially basketball and football. I have traveled all over the United States and have lived in six of them. I have had several jobs in different fields from heavy lifting to tutoring high school students. However, I have struggled to find work at times too. I love my parents and my siblings they are the most important people in the world to me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were already members of the Mormon Church when I was born. I grew up learning the teachings and expecting to live them. Throughout my life, I have worked hard to do what I've been taught to do. I have never left the Church, though at times I have had doubts. I have been able to clear those doubts up by studying the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon, and by praying to Heavenly Father for answers. I have felt the Holy Ghost answer those prayers time and time again. I have also seen tremendous blessings in my life from obeying the teachings of the Church. I have felt a lasting joy, as well as a sense of purpose in life. I have never had a problem that I couldn't fix by turning to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. For this, and many other reasons, I have chosen to remain a Mormon throughout my life, and I have never regretted it. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I trust Him with all my heart. I know that He loves us and He watches over us. I know that He has restored His true Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, to the earth for that very reason. I know He communicates with men on earth today, especially with His Prophet. I am so grateful that this truth has been revealed to me personally by the Holy Ghost, and I wouldn't trade this knowledge for anything.

How I live my faith

I recently got back from being a missionary for the Church, one of those people that goes around in a suit and tie telling people all about what we believe. Now, I attend Church every week and really enjoy learning about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I have a few responsibilities within the Church. One of them is to visit some of the other members and share Gospel related messages with them every month, and to make sure that their needs are met. It's great to have people to watch out for, because I know that I'm needed and those people know that they are loved.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Many people ask this question, as they should, it is important to know that what we believe is true, especially if you are considering joining the Church. I love the counsel in the Book of James in the Bible, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, which giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." In other words, if we want a question answered, we can ask God, through prayer, what the answer is. The best question to ask in regards to the Church is if the Book of Mormon is true, after thoughtfully studying it. I personally have done this and I know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon, and the Church, are true. I know that by taking these steps, you may find this answer as well. Show more Show less
