Hi I'm Jim

I love fly fishing, hunting and just everything about the outdoors. I'm a father of five children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a meat cutter by trade, I've been in the meat industry for 40 years and currently work for a large meat producer. I love fly fishing, hunting, camping, backpacking and most of all my family. I have five children and fifteen grandchildren. My wife and I have been married for 35 years. I've had the opportunity to serve in the community and in various church responsibilities and outside of my family this is where I get the most enjoyment. I consider myself a continuous student of scripture and of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my Savior and want to follow and serve Him in any way I can. My most rewarding experiences have been in serving my wife and children; teaching them and learning from them; they are my treasures of this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was eighteen years old, shortly after high school. I realized that there was something missing in my life - direction, understanding, purpose. I wondered what God had in store for me and what I would need to do to really know He existed - I needed to know if He was really there. I knew others who were mormons and as I watched them they taught me somewhat of the things they believed in. I wanted what brought happiness and confidence into their lives. I began to formally investigate the church and came to know for myself of the truthfulness of the things I was taught. I am so blessed to know, really know that the Savior, Jesus Christ lives! I am thankful for His miraculous gift of the atonement. My life is so blessed and enriched. I am thankful to know of eternal families - that our relationships with our loved ones does not stop at the grave. I am thankful for a loving God and His eternal plan of happiness for us!

How I live my faith

I've always felt that if I truly love the savior Jesus Christ, the best way for me to express that love is to serve Him. I'm far from perfect in this but I try each day by drawing close to Him through scripture and prayer, live His teachings the best I can, follow His example and the examples of great men and women who exemplify His teachings, and then work as hard as I can to accomplish anything that is under my charge. I try to be a good steward of my responsibilities at home and work - to be dependable and of value in all things. I try to be a good servant of all, especially my family. I try to give good counsel when it's welcomed, and to listen more and speak less. I think it's my responsibility to be a calming influence so that the still, small voice of the spirit can direct. I try to have fun in all that I do and to be happy. I hope to always be in a position to share the good works of the Savior in word and deed.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jim
A testimony is what the the Holy Ghost has witnessed to you. The foundation of a testimony is knowing that Heavenly Father lives and loves us that Jesus Christ is His son and and that through His atoning sacrifices has made it possible for all of God's children to return to Him. I have learned these principles of the gospel and received a testimony of them through scripture study and fervent prayer. The Holy Ghost testifies of truth and helps us to discern what is right.
