Hi I'm Pat

I was born in Denver Colo. Got married, had 4 kids, retired and I’m a Mormon

About Me

I’m retired now but I used to be a plant manager. I worked in manufacturing most of my life. I have 4 children and have 7 grandchildren. I live in the country now on 14 acres with a pond that has catfish, bass and sun fish. I used to have chickens put found that they kept me to tied down from traveling. I love living in the county. Its lots of work but gives you a great feeling when you’re done.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn’t join the church till I was about 27. I had been going to many churches over my life time. But always felt like something was missing. I remember when I was 12 and my father had just had a heart attack. The church that we were going to didn’t come to see us for a few months and when they did it was just to see why the checks had stopped coming. When I found out that the Mormons went every month to everyone’s house to meet with them and make sure they were ok. I thought that was great. Then as I began to learn more about everything they said it was all things I had always thought. As they told me more I just felt like Yes! Yes! That’s what I believe too.

How I live my faith

I have lived in many states, and have traveled a lot. But the one thing I can always depend on is that when I go to church it’s just like being at home. And even when I have gone to other countries it’s still like being home. You have a family where ever you go. The church I go to now is a small branch so we all have many hats to wear. I get the programs ready for each Sunday service I do the newsletter, and teach a Sunday school class called the Gospel Principles. One of the greatest things I have seen is when I was in the Cayman Islands one Sunday we had people from all over the U.S. down there on vacation. But on one Sunday they were short of people to lead the music and bless the sacrament, and say the opening prayer. So people that were there on vacation jumped up to help with anything they could. Because it’s the same there as it is everywhere, just different people.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes, we believe the Bible is Holy Scripture. Because the bible has been translated in to a few languages before it was translated in to English. We use the book of Mormon to helps us understand the bible better. It’s like having more than one person tell you what happened. Or why we should live our lives the way Jesus taught us. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

There are many things in life that people do. But for any of it to be done the way it should be you have to have the authority to do it. The same is true of being baptized. Show more Show less
