Hi I'm Clayton Payne

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy playing basketball and played during my time in high school. I also played alto saxaphone in the school band and jazz band. I am currently in school studying to be a mechanical engineer. I served a two year mission for my church in Dallas, TX where I worked with latin people and had the opportunity to learn spanish. I have an older sister and two yonger brothers that are twins who are both currently serving two year missions, one in Guatemala and the other in Chile. All of us including my parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormon church.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of the church when I was 8 years old but for me my true conversion came when I was 16. Up until that point in my life I believed the church was true mostly because my parents told me it was true. Then when I was 16 I decided that this church wasn't the true church of Jesus Christ. I realized that the only reason i believed that this church was true was because my parents told me so and they've never lied to me. As members of this church we invite all people to read the Book of Mormon and decide for themselves if this church is true or not so at the age of 16 I took this challenge myself. I took the time to read through the Book of Mormon and took a lot of time to pray and ask my Heavenly Father to let me know if this ws his true church. When I finished the Book of Mormon I knelt in prayer to my Father in heaven and as I began to pray a feeling of peace and joy swept over me and I knew at that time that I have a Father in heaven that loves me and he has restaured his church to the earth in these days to bless his children, including me. In my prayer I gave thanks to my Father in heaven for all the blessings he has given me and my family and promised him that i would serve a mission when I turned 19 so that more of his children could have these same blessings that he had given me.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is something very easy. I am able to enjoy time with friends and do all the things that I enjoy without feeling bad that I am doing something that would dissapoint my Father in heaven. Currently I am serving in my ward as part of a presidency that presides over the men in my ward or congregation. I organize something we call home teaching which is a program set up where all the men in the congregation are assigned to a companion and given a list of names of members of the congregation. They are asked to visit these families at least once a month to see how things are going for these individuals. Also part of the program is if there is an emergency you can call these men that have been assigned to visit you and they are always willing to help. This is a very large blessing in my life and something that all members of our church participate in. At home we get regular visits to make sure we are doing ok and when something happens they are always the first ones to help. It is also a blessing right now in my life because I am Currently living seperated from my family going to school but with this program I have a "family" that I can call on when I need them and they are always there for me.
