Hi I'm Joseph.

I'm a Father of four. I was born and raised in Ohio. I enjoy my family, job, spending time outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Father to four wonderful children. Raising, guiding and spending time with them are my favorite activities. I also enjoy working on cars, reading science fiction and fantasy books, biking and spending time outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't think I'd even heard of the Church until I was 15. My cousin had friends who happened to be members of the Church and as I often hung out with him I began to come into contact with some of the principles of the Gospel. I wasn't really a church goer at the time but I often read from the Bible well into the night in my own quest for truth. The first time the Gospel really touched me and made me sit up and take notice was one night when I was with my cousin at his friends house. Missionaries from the Church stopped by to share a spiritual message. It was a simple story about Joseph Smith. I had no idea who he was or why he would be important but I listened with rapt attention as the Missionaries talked about the Golden Plates and how they were hidden to keep them safe from a mob. I came away that night wondering why it felt right and rang true. Being shy and full of anxieties I was afraid to ask my cousin's friends about the Church but instead I checked a copy of the Book of Mormon out of my local library. I read it and knew without a doubt that it was the truth. I did as it asked in Moroni Chapter 10 and received a testimony. I would like to say it was all easy after that but it wasn't. I knew the Church was true but I was afraid because it seemed such a huge commitment. Belief came easy. Overcoming my social anxieties was not. I did however get the phone number of the Missionaries and began taking the lessons. I really wanted to be baptized but was nervous of what would be expected of me. At the only church I'd gone to growing up, all that was asked of you was to show up, sing a few hymns and listen to the preacher....being an active member where I might be called upon to pray or have a calling or give a talk in front of an entire congregation was terrifying to me. It took awhile and a lot of prayer but I finally overcame my fears enough to be baptized. That was 18 years ago. I'm glad Heavenly Father was and still is patient with me. I know the Church is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that we are lead by inspired leaders today.

How I live my faith

I've dreamed of a family and being a Father since I was young, so the fact that Families can be together forever, really stuck with me. When I met the woman who would be my wife, we agreed to do it right and were married for all time and eternity in a House of the Lord, the Temple. We grew our family and some of my fondest experiences serving in the Church has been serving in the Nursery and in Primary. My favorite calling was serving as the teacher of my youngest sons Sunday school class. I've enjoyed going out and serving with the Missionaries and am currently enjoying meeting new people and making new friends in my new Ward Family. I've just been called to be a Ward Missionary and am looking forward to magnifying this calling as I really enjoy serving with the Elders and speaking to investigators and others about the Gospel. I also have many opportunities to serve my family and others through Temple service, family scripture study, family prayer and Priesthood blessings for my children.
