Hi I'm Larry.

I joined the Mormon Church when I was 36 because I love my family.

About Me

My wife and I have been married 40 years. We're the parents to five children and have four grand children. I am a dentist and my hobbies include fly fishing, genealogy, photography and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife was raised as a member of the Church but stopped attending before we were married. My family didn't attend church and the only thing I knew about Mormons was what I read in history class about Brigham Young and polygamy. But my wife told me once that in the Mormon temple families could be joined together, sealed, for eternity. As we began to have children, she attended church with our two young daughters. Eventually, I wanted to learn more about what Mormon's believed and read the Book of Mormon. As I read it, I knew it was a true account of a family led by a father striving to do what was right because he deeply loved his family. I identified with father Lehi. Missionaries came to our house and taught me about principles of the Church such as who we are and why we are here on earth and what God wants for us. It all made sense to me and when I prayed about it, I felt a burning in my chest as the Holy Spirit bore witness that it was true. Within a few weeks I was baptized and a year later my wife, myself and our children went to the temple and were sealed together for all eternity. That was 27 years ago and despite the trials and tribulations of life, we take great solace and comfort in being an eternal family.

How I live my faith

Mormons live their religion every day of the week, it is a way of life. As a dentist, I serve my patients every day treating them honestly and fairly with respect and empathy. The Mormon Church is run by a lay ministry and its members are given assignments. During my membership I have worked with the boys and young men in their Scouting program, young married families and currently oversee the older men and women. Along with other members of the ward, I help arrange monthly visits to families to check on their well-being and organize trips to the temple.
