Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a stay at home mom and have four wonderful children. Presently my husband, youngest son and I are living in Austria (near Salzburg in "The Sound of Music" countryside) as my husband fulfils a work assignment. My two oldest sons are in University and my only daughter just left to serve a mission in Anaheim California. Four years ago I gained another daughter when my son married and I became a grandmother last year to a darling little red headed girl - what a joy!! I recently became a student of the Pathways Program started by the church. I had been praying about what to do with my life as my child raising years are nearly over and I wanted something meaningful to be able to do. Miraculously I sat next to Pathways missionary on a plane 2 months ago and she told me about this amazing program which allows me to finish my degree online. It has given me such an emotional boost as last year I found myself living in a foreign country with not much to do all day but drive my son to and from school, clean and read. (No complaints about the reading - I love to read) I am now working towards finally completing my education, which was interrupted 27 years ago, and getting my bachelor's degree through BYU Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving home where the church was already a part of my parent's life. Their examples of faith and commitment started me on a path that has brought so much happiness to my life. I have come to know that I am a beloved daughter of my Heavenly Father and that I have a divine destiny to fulfill. The gospel has given me a foundation and a direction as well as a peace that comes from knowing who I am and why I am here. I could not imagine trying to raise my kids without the principles and values which have blessed my life and kept me safe. I know that my Savior Jesus Christ lives. He reaches out to me every day. He knows me and blesses me despite my weaknesses and never gives up on me. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I treasure the time that I get to spend studying it each day. I can't imagine living my life any other way.

How I live my faith

Currently I have been called to be a missionary for my church. It's been a little challenging with the language barrier (I don't speak German yet) but I am always looking for opportunities to share my testimony with people I meet through travel and with old friends on social media. I love the opportunity I have to meet each month, through the visiting teaching program, with other women from my congregation and to talk about the gospel and how it can help to strengthen us as well as help us to navigate the challenges of the world we live in. These ladies have become the dearest of friends and I rely on them as much as they rely on me to help keep each other going when times are tough. I love to attend my weekly Sacrament meeting and to gather with the members of my congregation to study the gospel. It helps me to renew my faith and commitment to the Lord when I make Sunday a day of worship and I always feel strengthened and ready to begin a new week when Monday morning comes. Living what I believe centers me and gives me hope in a world where there is so much turmoil. I am grateful for my faith!
