Hi I'm Gina

I grew up near San Francisco and became a geologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Marin County, California. Although I was raised LDS, most of my friends were not members of the church. To be understated, I met a lot of people with livestyles very different from mine in my youth. It gave me an opportunity, while still young, to look at all of the philosophies offered to me and decide what was the truth. One might consider that my choice was stictly a result of my upbringing, but that was not the case. Truth is very clear when it is manifested through diety - as I believe it always is. I went to college and became a geologist. I worked as a geologist for many years before meeting my husband and having two boys. I then took on the hardest job I've ever had...staying home with preschoolers! I used to sing opera. I play the piano and guitar. I love being out in this fabulous world and feel strongly that we need to carefully tend it. I am a read-a-holic. I have traveled extensively, including such places as Israel, Egypt, Greece, as well as Europe and Britian. I love being a mother to my two now older sons. My family is by far the most important thing in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a very simple reason - God has made it very clear to me that the gospel as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the FULLNESS of the Gospel. I am a truth-seeker, and could not be satisfied by the bits and pieces of truth found in the other philosophies which I have studied. There is nothing like the witness of the Holy Ghost. It makes truth clear in so many ways at once. It rings like a bell in my intellect and in my soul. I remember sitting in a physics class in college, thinking that I would NEVER understand the theory being taught. It was just way too complicated. Suddenly, the concept "clicked" and I realized it was not complicated, but incredibly simple. It made perfect sense! It is the same with the Spirit. It makes a confusing question suddently crystal clear, with a depth of understanding and conviction which is simply unattainable in any other way. The Holy Spirit speaks to the heart simultaneously. It just FEELS right. There is an sense of peace and calm which supports and intensifies the feelings of the intellect. Such an experience is clear, undefinable, and undeniable. To be able to plug into the truth of the universe and have it verified through diety is an experience I would beg anyone to have. No matter what life throws at me, I know where I can turn for answers and the overwhelming serenity of being on the path my Creator wants me to walk.

How I live my faith

I TRY to live my faith by making something around me better everyday. I believe we either emanate light or darkness to everything around us. I try to emanate light. I am a happy person (most of the time). This is because my definition of success is to know what my God wants me to do and to do it. I try to smile at others, help those in financial need and listen to the troubled. I sing in a local community choir. Singing Handel's Messiah is the highlight of my Christmas season. I am the choir director at church, and also lead the children's singing in church every Sunday.
