Hi I'm Silas

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful daughter of God and am the proud father of 3 boys and 1 beautiful girl. They are my greatest joy! I enjoy reading books, some of my favorites have been the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I enjoy these books because of the rich history that is found mingled with the rest of the story, and history is one of my favorite subjects. I have a degree in Information Systems. Web development is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy it because unlike other forms of work you can look back at the end of the day and see exactly what you accomplished.

Why I am a Mormon

I had never questioned the truthfulness of the beliefs of the Church, they always seemed like common sense to me. But I think It took me a while before I realized that I have my own testimony of it. My testimony came through trying to understand and applying the Atonement of the Savior. Never before had I felt so assured of the things that I have been taught in my life. What a great blessing it is to be a member of such a great community of people who strive to do their best and yet recognize that without Christ we would all fall short of returning to live with our Father in Heaven. I am blessed to know that that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that he was called of God to perform the great work of restoration. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and I am eternally grateful for the pain that he suffered on my behalf. I know that this is His Church and His work.

How I live my faith

The members in the area I am from have been challenged by our local leaders to set goals called "Faith Inspired Actions." I think these goals have helped me to live my faith more fully. Some of the goals that my family and I have made are reading scriptures as a family daily, having family prayer twice a day, making sure we spend one night a week teaching each other Gospel principles and sharing our testimonies. Working on these goals daily has brought us closer together and to our Savior. I am the finance clerk in my ward and I have been blessed to understand how the Church's funds are used to bless the lives of its members', especially those in need. I live my faith by trying to be the best husband and father possible.
