Hi I'm Roy Woodbury

I grew up in a very nomadic family, The gospel of Jesus Christ has been the one constant throughout all of the changes of moving.

About Me

I grew up the son of an Air Force pilot and an immigrant armenian mother whose family joied The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Syria. As part of my dad's job we moved every few years and I was able to experience many of the regional cultures of the United States. After completing high school I was blessed to serve a mission in San Jose CA. I am married with 3 children. My family has been blessed with the opportunity to live in various parts of the country and to a lesser extent the nomadic life I grew up experiencing has been a part of my family's life. The gospel of Jesus Christ and the church has been a constant in my life and the life of my familiy throughout all the moves and an ever changing world. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, sliing, snowboarding, hiking, biking and exercising. I like spending time outdoors, remodeling houses, working with youth and being involved in the community.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, however I believe everyone needs to gain a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ on their own. I'm greatful for parents who taught me and gave me the blessing of having the gospel in our home. I studied and prayer about the things I would learn and gained a testimony as to their truthfulness through theses quiet moments of spiritual communication. I am also very grateful for ancestor who sacrificed so much, and how their sacrifice allowed me to be brought up in a home where the gospel was taught, shared and lived to the best of our understanding and ability. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony of Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redemeemer and that he is the son of a living Father in Heaven who has provided a glorious plan for us to return and live with him if we will heed his teachings as shared in the scriptures (The Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price) and through modern prophets hear on the earth in our day. These blessings give me comfort and show just how much our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us and want for us to return to their presence.

How I live my faith

I serve in a youth program for the young men of the greater east Cleveland/Kirtland Ohio area. I am fairly new to Ohio but am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with the youth. We have a lot of fun with basketball leagues, scouting, service, and other actives and adventures. I enjoy the opportunity to serve as a home teacher -- where I check in on a few famiilies/friends in surrounding communities each month. It is rewarding to build enduring friendships through this program and to also know that you may be able to assist others in their time of need. I enjoy getting involved in community assistance programs through my employer, kids schools, and local foodbanks. I was part of an effort to break the world record for the most amount of food collected in a single day for The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. I believe strongly in the value of education and my wife and I have established or contributed to several endowed scholarship funds to our alma mater and universities where our children attend, We have also tried to serve in and provide contributions to our cildren's public schools as they were growing up.
