Hi I'm Tim

I'm an Aussie, an educator and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad and live with my wife and three teenage children. I enjoy beach activities such as fishing, swimming and body surfing as well as working in the garden. I enjoy playing the piano and listening to music on my ipod. Living in a semi-rural setting is great. We have plenty of gum trees around. We have a dog that is a Jack Russel with a brown patch on his back and a slight case of hayfever! I currently work as a project officer in a team helping teachers teach science. I also work together with others supporting teachers online. I am a regular church goer.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the chuch has provided my family and I with countless blessings. I have grown up in the church and have known of the peace that comes by living according to its precepts. A part of growing up was seeking for and finding my own testimony. This I did and it has sustained me throughout adulthood. By following the precepts taught in the scriptures and at church, I have continued to find peace and happiness in this life. Of course none of us are perfect, that is why I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ. It is because of what He did that I have hope as I strive to continue to follow Him.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a daily thing. For example, my diet is healthy. I don't smoke or drink and when others are having a morning coffee I am content with a fresh glass of water. Although, an iced chocolate goes down well on occasions! I have also developed personal habits that sustain me spiritually. These include reading my scriptures on my smart phone as I travel to work, taking time out for myself to exercise, and spending quality time with my wife and children. On Monday nights we have a focussed family night and it includes a lesson, games, a treat and planning for the following week. In our local church branch, I serve as a counsellor in the presidency. The responsibilities I have include overseeing activities, and the youth. A highlight for our branch was when we went on a re-enactment of the westward trek of pioneer Mormons. This took place over a number of days in the bush. We pushed and pulled handcarts and ate damper and other pioneer food. This 'once in a lifetime' activity was a real challenge and very rewarding. One of my church responsibilities is to assign people to prepare uplifiting talks for the main meeting we have each Sunday called Sacrament meeting. I have seen members grow as they learn how to speak in public on things they have discovered about God and His plan.
