Hi I'm Michael

I'm a river guide. I'm from Red Rock country Moab, Utah. I speak Spanish. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hey! I was a river guide down in Moab Utah for 4 years! I love being in the outdoors, and I love the desert. Red Rock country is the best! I am attending college, and plan to become a human resource manager. I love working with my hands and with people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been raised a member, and will continue to be a member because the peace and joy that I feel. I know that I cannot be happy unless I follow the gospel and true teachings that have been given me. I know that true happiness comes from enjoying the blessings of ordinances received under direction of Authority from our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He lives. He knows my weaknesses, and where I am weak, He is strong. I know that He atoned for me, and I have felt His atoning power in my life. Just because I was born into this Church does not mean I am perfect. It does not mean that I am better than any other person in this world. What Christ has taught me is that I need to do many good works in my life and to be a true disciple to be saved by his grace. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet called of God, to lead this dispensation in ushering in the fullness of times. He did translate the Book of Mormon through the power of revelation and through the Spirit. I know the teachings of the Book of Mormon, and past teachings of all prophets called of God are inspired and true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's spokesman for this day and age, and he is called of God to lead His Church. I have felt of his love. I know that he will never lead this church astray. I know these things to be true of my own will, and through the power of the Holy Ghost have these things been made manifest to me. I say these things in the name of my Savior, my Redeemer, my Brother, and my Friend, even Jesus Christ, Amen. I know this to be true, and I am willing to sacrifice my heart, might, mind and strength, all of my time and talents to the building up of this church, and God's kingdom here on earth. That is what my testimony means to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a Christian. I follow the councils given by our Savior Jesus Christ, namely his gospel. I follow his commandments. The first great commandment is to love the Lord with all of your heart, might, mind and strength. The second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Just today, while driving, my father and I stopped and helped a family from Iowa get their car started. They were out of gas, and their battery had run out because their lights had been turned on for so long. Just little things like that. I try every day to find opportunities to help others. In my church, it is common to be asked to speak in church, or teach lessons. I have participated in these things. I like teaching, because really when you prepare to teach, you are the one being taught! I also am serving a mission! I am serving for two years in the Florida Jacksonville Mission and I go around telling the world about how the Book of Mormon has changed my life and invite people to follow the Savior and be baptized!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Michael
I like to start out my day by asking, "How can I show my faith today?" Faith is not shown by how much you know about the scriptures, or how well you can speak to other people, it is shown by how you treat other people. Faith is an action word. To increase Faith in Jesus Christ, you need to do what He has taught. It's simple, and yet rewarding. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Michael
We need a Savior for two reasons. "to bring to pass the immortality (1) and eternal life (2) of man." Jesus Christ was resurrected, and was given power over death. Every man that lived in this life will be resurrected and granted immortality through that power. Our Eternal Life, or life with God, depends on how well we live the Gospel of Jesus Christ which includes: Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. As we live the gospel the Atonement that our Savior performed will take effect on our lives, forgive our sins, making us grow closer to God and preparing us to live in His presence. So why do we need a Savior? Well I can't pardon my own sins, and I can't raise myself from the dead. I need Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Michael
Uhh, Yea!! The Book of Mormon is true! It tells us that Jesus appeared to the ancient American continent following his death and resurrection and is convincing evidence that He is the Son of God! Many people have questions about the ancient civilizations in Central and South America. These questions are answered by the Book of Mormon! Read it! Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Michael
If God is the same yesterday today and forever, and if Jesus Christ came down and organized His Church on the earth including twelve apostles, teachers, bishops, deacons, elders etc., then wouldn't it make sense to have twelve apostles right now? Plus an Apostle is a special witness of Christ. We need these special witnesses to give us guidance and direction, as well as warnings and prophecies today. When Jesus restored His Church, He restored all of it! Show more Show less
