Hi I'm Bert

I am a civil engineer, married, dad to five kids, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an engineer in the Air Force, and love sports, music, movies, and hanging out with my family. I graduated from college with a bachelors in civil engineering and a masters in building construction and facility management. I am a dad to four girls and a sidekick son. I have been married to an amazing girl for eleven years. We have our ups and our downs and our all-arounds, and life for me would be amiss without her.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found no other faith which clarifies scripture, answers my questions, and helps me direct my family to do good and believe in God like this church. Nothing gives me greater hope than the knowledge that God is the same today as he was yesterday. The doctrines of this church speak to me with a voice of love and compassion that I have not heard in any other place. The words written in the Book of Mormon provide comforting answers to my fears, hope to my despair, and gives me a firm vision of true happiness. This church strengthens my conviction in the divinity of Jesus Christ. I believe that Joseph Smith saw God and His Son Jesus Christ. I believe that long ago there were other people living in the world in addition to those we read about in The Bible who knew about Jesus Christ. I believe that some of these people are those we read about in the Book of Mormon. Because of those beliefs is why I am a Mormon. They are simple truths in a very complicated world. They give me purpose, they help me make sense out of all of the craziness I see and hear everyday. This church speaks to something inside me more than any other place ever has. This faith is why I believe in God. It is why I believe He has a Son. It is why I believe that Son is Jesus Christ who died for me, and has been by my side through my pain, my triumphs, my sins, and my tears. God loves me. He wants me to be a part of this Church. He has asked me to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith empowers me with knowledge and inspiration to understand how God knows me and what he wants me to to do each day. I need motivation and direction, and the great thing is, my faith provides me with those two things. Attending church and sabbath worship is a critical element to my week. Setting aside one day each week to focus on my Savior Jesus Christ and putting the worries of life to the side for a moment gives me energy and desire to recommit my life and try again to do a little better to keep my promises I have made to Him throughout my life. I also get to teach others the Gospel. Each week I get to prepare a lesson for a Gospel study session held after our Sacrament service on Sundays. This opportunity helps me continually get to know my Father in Heaven. Through my faith, I also learn the importance of taking time each week for my family, the power of daily personnel prayer, and the blessings of sharing the good news that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. My faith challenges me to do these things the best I can each day. Visiting people in need, continuous learning through prayer and scripture study, giving tithes and offerings, and worshiping God in His holy house gives me strength and conviction that God knows me and I am doing my best to do what he wants me to do .
