Hi I'm Valerie

I'm a college student, I enjoy music, I'm outdoorsie, I love to laugh :), and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a college student, studying Therapeutic Recreation. I like being outdoors, and I enjoy nature. I love music! I play the guitar, piano, and I love to sing. Writing songs is something that I have recently starting doing. I have completed one song with both words and music, and have two others in progress. I really enjoy cooking, and baking yummy treats. I love being with my family and friends, and I especially love to laugh! The beach is beautiful, and the warmth of the sun brightens my day! One of my favorite things to do is to serve others. Nothing makes my day better than to see someone smile!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because that is what I know to be true. I have had many experiences where the Spirit has confirmed that the scriptures, Joseph Smith, prayer, tithing, words from the prophets, service, and many more principals of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are true. When I was 15, I wrote my feelings of the Book of Mormon down after I had read it, not really sure if I knew it was true. I went back a few weeks later and was amazed at what I wrote. I knew that day that I truly had a testimony of the Book of Mormon. As I read what I wrote I felt the Spirit so strong, and I was so happy. I’m a Mormon because without this gospel; without the truth, I would be so lost and unhappy. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. I know it is true with all of my heart. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and that he as a young boy saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon, and I am so grateful that he did so that we would have a record of the early prophets. I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, and if we look we can find His tender mercies every day. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I know He lives and He loves us. I am so grateful for the atonement and for the sacrifice that He made for me, and for each of us. I know that true healing can come through the daily use of the atonement, and what a blessing that is. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that knows me so perfectly and is willing to guide me through this life testing, trying, and blessing me to get where I need to be, and become who I need to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the best that I can to follow Jesus Christ’s example. I know that I have so much to learn and improve on, but I have the desire to become better. I strive everyday to become more like Him, and serve and love all around me. I live the principals of the gospel as best as I can and I am always looking for opportunities to learn more about our Savior Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Valerie
As members of the Church The Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we stive to serve all those that are in need of service of any kind. There are so many great programs within the church that help porvide food and assistance to many people who are not Mormon. Within the church, humanitarian kits are assembled by members and then delivered to people and countries all over the world in times of need. The spirit of service is such blessing and brings about a warm feeling of love and joy. When anyone not just mormons, help others we feel the love of Jesus Christ. Who would not want that in there lives? :) As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we feel that it is important to love and hlep all around us. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Valerie
Mormon Missionaries go out and proselyte because they love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and they want to share it with others. They have found peace and joy trough faith building experiences and want others to feel of that joy for themselves. Missionaries invite others to come unto Christ by helping them understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are usually seen going about in pairs on bikes, or walking around seeking those who are interested to learn more about Jesus Christ and His gospel. Show more Show less
