Hi I'm Brittney

I'm a college graduate, an outdoors enthusiast and most of all, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in Arizona I spent most of my time at the lake or on a mountain bike ride with my family which was instrumental in developing my love for the outdoors and even led to my attendance at the University of Utah, the outdoor Mecca of the world. Despite going to school and studying full time I made sure that there was plenty of room in my schedule for respite on the ski hill or riding my mountain bike on a local trail. Despite my rigorous recreational schedule I attained a Bachelors degree in English Literature, something that I know I couldn’t have accomplished without the assistance of my savior Jesus Christ. “Yea, I know that I am nothing as to my strength I am weak therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever..” Alma Chapter 26 Verse 12

Why I am a Mormon

My freshman year in college I was faced with a lot of changes. I had moved hundreds of miles away from my family to go to a school where I did not know a soul. I was at a new school in a new state without any friends and searching for a sense of belonging. My parents had done their best to raise my brother and I as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but as a teenager soccer tournaments and work often won over a Sunday church meeting. Later as a 19 year old girl alone in a new city I was searching for that comfort that I had always felt at my parents house so I did the only thing I could think of, I went to church for the first time in a long time. As I sat there with one of my roommates listening to a guy I had never seen before talking about the atonement of Jesus Christ I could feel in the very depths of my heart that all would be ok, and most of all that I wasn’t alone. Since that moment I have done everything I could to develop a knowledge and personal witness that Christ’s church has in fact been restored through a living prophet. It wasn’t until almost a year after my initial experience in church that I came to know for myself that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was another testament of His son Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because of that personal witness that I have gained through the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

"Living” your faith is much more than participating in your local ward or branch, it’s in your small everyday inconsequential acts. It’s picking up someone’s purse or scarf when they've dropped it. It’s opening the door for someone who may not be able to do it themselves. It’s being willing to talk openly about yourself and what you believe. I live my faith by being a good friend and having willing hands to help those around me, no matter how inconsequential the act may seem.
