Hi I'm Spencer

I have been a Mormon all of my life. I have loving parents who taught me about Jesus Christ and His love for us.

About Me

My wife and I have been married more than 20 years and are blessed to have four great kids. We enjoy doing things together as a family - everything from; waiting so we can all watch our favorite TV shows together to scuba diving, golfing and boating. Our kids are growing up faster than we ever anticipated and we now have two in college. We are very excited to see our kids progress and mature in all things including their love, understanding and devotion to our Father in Heaven. Our oldest daughter is married to a man who also embraces the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our oldest son is serving a two year mission in Armenia. I also served a mission in Peru over 25 years ago. It is a time of personal and spiritual growth. I learned a lot about myself and the rest of God's children and our purpose of life on this earth. My career path has been interesting as it as evolved through software technology to internet and online family history to working with aging Seniors and their medical care in the end stages of life. I have learned through this that life is part of a journey to grow and learn about ourselves.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons, but in summary, I am a Mormon because I know that there is a God who loves me and my family. He cares about us and wants us to progress. This life is an opportunity that He gave us to learn to understand His love. He sent His Son to be our Example and our Savior and Redeemer as part of that plan so that none of us will be lost due to the errors we make during our progress. There is no better way to understand this path and plan than through what is encompassed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ upon which the Book of Mormon and doctrines of the LDS Mormon faith are founded. I live these doctrines and principles every day and the joy and comfort I have received over time from this lifestyle ensures me that what I am doing is right and true. I love my family very much and want to live with them and Our Father in Heaven forever. I want to continue to progress with them. I believe I can through through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by commiting myself to the principles I believe are true. I try to learn more about Jesus Christ and his teachings through study, prayer and weekly church attendence. Most importantly, I try to apply what I learn and feel through service. I look for opportunities to lighten others burdens - usually in small ways. I don't always live up to the standards, I make mistakes. Like everyone else, I am selfish at times, get tired, ornery, and lazy etc. At times, these things lead me to act in ways I am not proud of. However, learning from my mistakes, applying the atonement and trying to do better tomorrow are the principles I try to follow. In the church we have many opportunities to serve others. I was a missionary as a young man. I have taught Sunday School classes, helped with youth activities, help with my local congregation organization and administration, and counseled others that need guidance, comfort and a listening ear. It is all very rewarding. I have also received service through those in our congregation as they teach Sunday School lessons to me and my family, take my kids on campouts, keep the building and grounds clean and safe . . . As we all volunteer our time and talents together, our community is strengthened and our growth and progress is facilitated and we all serve each other and our Father in Heaven shoulder to shoulder.

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

Spencer
In reality, the Mormon church began before the world was created. God created a plan for His spirit children to progress beyond our current states. We needed bodies and experience. So, He created a plan for us to gain both of those. This life we live here on earth is that plan and the Mormon church is founded on the principles of that plan. The same principles that Jesus taught and built while on the earth and the same principles that were founded in the Old Testament. All of those principles regardless of the era they existed in create the church of God on earth. The Mormon church is Gods church on earth today. Show more Show less
