Hi I'm Joe

I was born in Texas and grew up in Kansas. I love art, photography, information technology, and church activities.

About Me

I have worked for years in the IT industry programming applications for use in business and industry. Today I make DVDs for people from their old VHS tapes, movies, photographs, and other memories. I love art, primarily drawing and painting. My wife and I have 7 children and LOTS of grandchildren - whom we love to visit!

Why I am a Mormon

One day in August, 2009, I was asked by a church missionary, "Why haven't you been baptized?". I rather curtly replied, "I don't want to." I felt guilty when I said that...odd, I thought. A friend had given me a book, "Ownership Spirit" by Dennis R. Deaton, which addressed the issue of choosing to take ownership of your life or choosing to be a victim. I needed some kind of evidence that what I hoped for could be true! I then recalled a scripture from my youth; Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." With faith, I can proceed with my pursuit of the truth. I am a Mormon because I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I involve myself with the missionaries of the church in order to try and coordinate the teaching of people who are curious about Mormons and what we believe. I go to church every Sunday and honor the Sabbath in order to focus on those things which I now know are true. Most importantly, I try not to react, but to think and then respond.
