Hi I'm Lyla
I am an art major, and am interested in comics and illustration.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I know the gospel is true, and this knowledge gives me so much hope and faith to try to be a better person every single day.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
When I was younger I did not have a very strong testimony and did not read the scriptures very often. Through a series of events, I made the commitment to read the Book of Mormon every night to my younger sister for a whole month. I cannot remember the precise moment my heart changed, but after that month everything was different about the world to me, I felt a purpose in my life and a hope I hadn't before. The Book of Mormon brought me closer to my Heavenly Father than I had ever been before, I just needed those words of inspiration from prophets so long ago to help soften my heart and remove my pride. I was so happy as I began to realize I was becoming the person I was meant to be, a person who had faith and commitment and love for the scriptures and for the Lord. So I decide every day, by reading the Book of Mormon every night, to always continue to become that person I really am, and will never let that faith and my testimony waver.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by saying my prayers and reading the scriptures every day, and going to church not only on Sundays, but whenever there are neat activities planned. I love my calling, because like any other calling I believe it's service based, and helps me devote time and effort to help those around me in my ward. I love visiting teaching and Family Home Evenings, because I love spending time with other members and talking about the gospel and being somewhere with people who believe what I believe and invite the spirit. I appreciate the righteous members of the church, and they inspire me to live my faith more valiantly. I try to live my faith through missionary work also, and even though I am shy it is still one of the greatest feelings to respectfully share my beliefs when prompted and invite others to learn about the gospel.
