Hi I'm Lauren Soper

I'm a convert and my life has been changed because of the teachings of the restored gospel. I know that this Church is true!

About Me

I am a recent college grad who majored in International Studies. I love traveling, spending time outdoors, playing sports, singing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this gospel is true and I love this church! I was baptized in February 2011 and it has been the best decision of my life. I started meeting with the missionaries because of my roommate in December 2010. I remember them asking me one day if I wanted to get baptized. I got scared. I didn't know if I was strong enough to share with the world that I was a Mormon. But Heavenly Father had other plans for me. A couple of days later, I was reading 2 Nephi 29 and I heard in my head "I NEED to be baptized!" This kept repeating over in my head until I finally picked up the phone and called the missionaries. They were surprised but overjoyed at my declaration. I was baptized on February 4, and even though I knew the gospel was true, I hadn't received revelation on the matter. About a month after my baptism, another convert to the church got up one Sunday and started telling us how wrong our beliefs were. It broke my heart to hear her words, but my testimony also grew because of it. That night, as I was saying my prayers, I asked Heavenly Father to please confirm for me what I already knew to be true. I had barely finished praying when my heart started pounding and the Holy Spirit spoke one powerful word to me- "YES!". Because of that experience, I have never doubted the truthfulness of this gospel. I am now on a mission and am so excited to share my experiences and the joy that this gospel has brought to my life with others. I know it will bless their lives.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to always choose the right and live by the commandments which our Heavenly Father has given us. I am currently serving the Lord for 18 months in the Utah Provo mission and I love it! I love teaching people about our religion and helping them come closer to Christ. I do my best to always be a good example to my family and everyone around me to show them that this gospel can change their lives! Being an example is the best way I can live my faith because others will see how it has changed my life and want to know more.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lauren Soper
There is a promise in the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10: 4-5) that tells us if we will read, ponder and pray sincerely to know if the Book of Mormon or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, we will get our answer. To find out for yourself, all you have to do is that- read the Book of Mormon, study it out in your mind and then ask Heavenly Father sincerely if it's true. If you are willing to act on the answer He gives you and because He loves you, He will give you an answer. But the answer you receive won't always be loud. Heavenly Father speaks to us in many different ways and as we listen for the still, small voice of the Spirit, He will tell us through our thoughts and feelings that this is true. What is the First Vision?

Lauren Soper
The First Vision is the experience Joseph Smith had when he prayed to Heavenly Father to know what church he should join. When he was a boy, there were many different churches all claiming to have the truth. Joseph wanted to do the right thing, but he didn't know which church was right. As he was studying the scriptures, he came across a verse in James 1:5. It says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him". Joseph Smith decided to ask God for himself which church he should join. In the Spring of 1820, he went out into the woods to pray and had a wonderful experience. He recorded this experience for us: "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, "This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him!" ". Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that day and was told not to join any of the churches, but was called as a prophet to restore Christ's church back to the earth. Show more Show less
