Hi I'm Erin

I am a student of Physical Therapy. I love nature. I like art. I'm happily married. I am a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying to become a physical therapist. School work takes up most of my free time these days, but I seem to find time for the things I enjoy in life. My husband and I frequently visit museums, art galleries, and nature parks. I get to try to improve my photography skills when we do. I love nature and appreciate all the beauty that can be found in it. I love going on runs through parks or just walks around the neighborhood keeping an eye out for the nature around me. I also really enjoy painting and crafting. I love how art can express things that words cannot.

Why I am a Mormon

My best friend introduced me to the church. I had recently began college and found myself unhappy with my life. I began searching and praying to find meaning and purpose. Then when my best friend came to visit, she left me with a Book of Mormon and a note saying that she was so happy and that she wanted me to have that same happiness. She helped me to study and understand the Book of Mormon over the phone, and she helped me to get in contact with missionaries. Soon I was meeting with local missionaries and finding answers to my questions and prayers. One lesson I truly took to heart is that the gospel of Jesus Christ is truly alive. It is so exciting and wonderous to me that Christ is actively working in my life and the lives of others today. I knew the LDS church was true when this concept was taught to me by missionaries. They explained how true the phrase "the same today, yesterday and forever" really is, that Christ has played a role in the gospel since the beginning of time and continues to guide the people on Earth today. This brings me such a sense of peace and happiness. I am a member of this church because it continues to bring me understanding, peace, and hope in this world.

How I live my faith

Though I am a college student, there is only a family ward in my area. This has allowed me to make friends with all kinds of people of all different ages. The calling I served in the longest was Primary. Each week I got to teach, sing songs, and play games with the children of the ward. Primary was very rewarding to serve in because I felt that I was able to not only teach lessons to the youth, but also learn along with them. I was able to be a positive example and influence for the children in the ward simply by sharing the gospel of Christ. I also get to visit teach many of the college-aged women in the ward each month, which allows me to connect with people my own age. Being able to be involved and keep updated in the lives of others in the church not only allows me to serve but to also make great friends.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ and it is about the influence of his gospel on the Earth. It is a book that gives greater insight to the meaning of gospel principles, such as faithfulness and life after death, and how these principles are meaningful to people in this world. It is also a record of people living in the Americas thousands of years ago, before and after Jesus was on the earth, written by their hand. This shows me that the gospel of Christ has truly been meant for every person throughout the history of time and that principles that applied then can still apply today. The Book of Mormon is a way to grow closer to Christ and for me, a way to better understand this world. Show more Show less
