Hi I'm Lyzz Johnston

I love hip hop music and I love to dance! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student. My major is Social Work and I hope to work in an adoption agency. I am the person who you laugh at because they are jamming out dancing and singing in their car. I love learning about other cultures. I want to travel the world and take amazing pictures of all the place I visit.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I met the missionaries for the first time in 2000. I was playing some b-ball outside and they came and shared a story about a young man named Joseph Smith and shared a copy of the Book of Mormon with me. I thought they were a little strange but it intrigued me that boys their age knew so much about God. I had been attending a Presbyterian youth group and Lutheran Sunday services, both with friends because my family was not actively involved in any specific church. The youth from the Presbyterian and Lutheran church did not have the same conviction I saw in the two missionaries. I decide to continue to meet with them to learn more about what they had taught. I first attended church services and found it spiritual.... The Lutheran services were a little boring and the Presbyterian was a little over the top. The LDS church was a happy medium. Then, I began to read the Book of Mormon. I began praying and developing a relationship with God. A great change started taking place in my life. I had a new understanding of Gods love and purpose of our life on earth. After regular attending the church and studying with the missionaries, after about 3 months, I knew that this was the Lords church. He is at the head of it. That God still calls prophets in our time because he loves us and wants to guide us home. I told my parents that I wanted to be baptized, however, they thought I was too young to make that type of decision. They made a deal that if I attended church for a year and still wanted to be baptized that they would consent. To this day even though my parents are not members of the church, they will tell you that the church is the best thing that ever happened to my life. It is everything that is good in my life.

How I live my faith

I recently returned home from serving a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Every day we prayed to know where God wanted us to go to find those searching for the truth. I continue to seek out those who want to know if there is more to life and help answer their questions. I also study the scriptures daily to increase in knowledge our Heavenly Father plan for us and attend church regularly.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lyzz Johnston
Well the first thing you need is a desire. To want what God wants for you. Then you need an open heart, you have to be humble and ready to receive whatever guidance God gives to you and do it. You also need faith and an understanding that God hears and answers prayers. That faith has to be exercised into action. As you pray seeking answers to questions you have about life and read from the Book of Mormon you will find answers. As well as come to understand what the Savior has done for you. That He is Gods Son and He came to redeem us from our sins. All these things can be understood through the power of the Holy Ghost. It will come to one as a convincing force to testify of the reality of our loving Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and of all truth that Joseph smith had a vision and was called of God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ and translated the Book of Mormon. The understanding of the power of the Holy Ghost comes by experience. When you feel it, you will know what I’m talking about. One very important part of faith that those seeking to know if what the church teaches is true that many people neglect is actually attending church. As you are in church, you can receive specific guidance and more knowledge. It’s a way to show your desire, open heart, and dedication to follow what God wants you to do. Show more Show less
