Hi I'm Amy

I'm a wife, mother, suburban farmer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married 11 years and have 3 children. I love learning! Though I am not currently pursuing formal education, I spend my reading time learning about things that interest me. My degree is in nutrition which I use daily as a home chef! I am a do-it-yourself kind of gal so I naturally turned to gardening to support my eating habits! I love planting things and watching them grow. I love it so much that two-thirds of my small suburban yard is a garden! I have fruit trees, vegetables, berries, and grapes! I am always in awe when tiny seeds burst from the ground and provide so much bounty for me and my family. It makes me so thankful for a loving Father who made such a miraculous and wonderful world for us to live in!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I always went to church with my family until I graduated from high school. Like many kids that age, I questioned my religious upbringing. For about a year or so, I went searching. I saw the imperfections of people in my church and it made me wonder how I could be part of a religion that produced such imperfect people. How naive I was! In my search, I focused on finding doctrine that showed how I thought people should behave. In the process of searching I decided to read the Book of Mormon, as I had never searched it's doctrine on my own. As I read, I found all the things I was looking for! I found Christ and that He is the perfect example of how people should behave. He is the one who we should try to be like. I also found that no one is perfect and that is why we need our Savior, Jesus Christ so desperately. He made it possible for us to repent and keep trying even though our behavior is not perfect. As I was reading the Book of Mormon, I felt peaceful and happy and I knew that the things I found in it were true and that it was the example of how I should live my life. I came to realize that the doctrine of a religion is most important and that it doesn't matter what other people are doing, it matters if I'm living how I know I should. Since that time my faith in the gospel has never faltered. In fact, shortly after I gained this knowledge, I went on a mission to help others recognize and understand that Christ is truly the way!

How I live my faith

I believe that faith is shown through action...in behavior. As I said before, the way Christ behaved is how I try to behave. There are several ways I try to do this. I spend time with my elderly neighbor. I share my garden bounty with neighbors, friends, and those who need it. I check up on friends who i know are struggling. I teach songs about Christ to the children I go to church with. It makes me so happy when they tell me the songs I taught them were stuck in their head while they were at school all week! Most importantly I try my hardest to be as Christlike toward my husband and children as possible. I try to speak kindly and patiently with them. I am certainly not perfect but I try. I read scriptures with them and pray with and for them. We talk about Christ and our Father in Heaven and the wonderful things They have done for us!
