Hi I'm Eric Jeffs

I love people, and the stranger the better. I'm a cereal enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I don't really fit in a paragraph, but among my notable features are a passion for everything outdoors--rock climbing, long-boarding, backpacking, caving, and any kind of exploring- a constant hankering for donuts, and an obsession with the workings of the human brain. I believe that there shouldn't be an age limit on fun. I still love ball-pens and kite-flying. I'm from North Ogden UT, but I don't know where I'll end up. I enjoy being on college campuses and in hospitals, so a doctor I will be. I believe the world inside a person is more vast and expansive than the world outside of him, and getting a glimpse inside someone's private universe is one of life's greatest joys.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me so happy every day. If you want to be happier, be a Mormon. If you already are Mormon and want to be happier, be a better Mormon. I was raised Mormon, but being cynical and analytical made it hard to believe in God, miracles, and all I was taught in the church. I wanted proof. I spent my teen years questioning and doubting. Thankfully, our Father in Heaven has given us a way to know with certainty. The scriptures are the evidence--the Bible and The Book of Mormon--and we can study the evidence and go to the source of all truth for a confirmation. So I studied, starting in the Book of Mormon, I pondered what it taught, and I asked God if it was true. I didn't get my answer at once, but i persisted, and when I was ready to listen, God answered me. My answer was accompanied by an overwhelming feeling of love and joy I had never come close to feeling before, but the answer itself was a certainty that filled me and all the doubts just fell away. I had no doubt it was true. I can't explain how in an instant disbelief was swept away to be replaced by confidence, but it was. I do know with a certainty that it didn't come from my stubborn mind. I was TOLD it was true. Now I know for sure who I am. I am a son of God. Now I know what I'm here for. I'm here to grow, to experience life, and to have joy. Now I know where I'm going. I want to go to heaven, and I'm taking as many people as I can with me.

How I live my faith

I follow Christ. Christ taught, "the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him," (John, 8:29). So I follow Christ's example and do the things that please God, and I avoid doing things that displease him. I try to be kind to everyone, to love instead of judge, to improve myself daily, and to look for ways to serve. Currently I'm serving as a missionary in the Phoenix Arizona area. I get to share the message of Christ with everyone I see. I don't get any money for this, but I see miracles. I get to see people's lives changed by Christ. I've met so many people I now love like family. It's the best thing I've ever done.
