Hi I'm Stephany

I am a 4th grade teacher for autistic children. I grew up in Colorado and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Stephany and I am a college student studying Elementary Education. I love reading so much! I also love to watch old movies from the '40s, '50s, or '60s. Doris Day is my favorite actress and Carry Grant is my favorite actor. I love the spring time. I was on the colorguard for my high school marching band. I was the captain of the colorguard from my sophmore year in high school until my senior year. I am currently working as a manager at McDonald's.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up as a Mormon. Every Sunday I would go to church with my family and go through the motions of being a Mormon, but it wasn't until college that I really started thinking about whether or not I wanted to continue to be a part of this church. I started reading the Book of Mormon and praying to my Father in Heaven and asking if this was His church. After months of studying and praying, I felt peace in my heart and I knew without a doubt that this was His church and this was the church for me. Since then, I have seen many blessings in my life as The Lord has guided me toward the path He has planned for me. I went to college for Elementary Education. I graduated in April of 2014. I prayed to Heavenly Father and I asked Him where I should go to teach. I spent many sleepless nights worrying about where I should go to teach. I was offered a job in Las Vegas teaching 4th grade. I was so excited to have a job offer, but I did not feel right about it. I felt like their was a weight on my shoulders and for some reason I could not say yes. I told the school no thank you, against my better judgement, and kept searching for a job. One week later I was offered my dream job. I was to teach 4th grade to students with Autism. Before I accepted, I told Heavenly Father that I really wanted this job and I asked Him if this was the right job for me, and again, I felt peace in my heart and I knew without a doubt that this was for me. Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us. We just need to ask Him what is right and He will guide us. He wants to help us. He wants us to be happy. We just need to ask.

How I live my faith

I work with the women in the church. I am the secretary. Each sunday I take roll to make sure that others are coming to church and if they aren't, I report it and we can go visit them and make sure nothing is wrong. We then can help those who have fallen away.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God and His Son, Jesus Christ. That is why the official name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Joseph Smith was an instrument to bring about the Restoration of the church. We believe that God and Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him that none of the churches at the time were true. They told him that he was going to restore the true church to the Earth. Joseph Smith was a prophet just like the prophets in the Bible, but we worship Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
