Hi I'm Jenn

I love goth music, Victorian antiques, and literature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 27-year-old writer living in beautiful southern California. Music is a vital part of my life: from gothic and industrial to musicals, I love it all. On a Friday night you can find me at a famous industrial club in Hollywood where I dance til dawn; I may be the only person in the club dressed modestly and not drinking, but I'm still having a great time. Literature is also a huge part of my life. I especially love childrens' books and good science fiction/fantasy. Finding a good book is like meeting a new friend. I live in an exciting city and love where I live: on any day I can be riding my bike through a hip neighborhood, sampling delicious food from our many gourmet food trucks, seeing a scary movie in a cemetery, attending a movie screening, or taking my dog to the dog park and meeting new people. I love life and, even though I have some pretty hefty trials, I'm grateful to Heavenly Father for the blessings I'm given.

Why I am a Mormon

To me, the Gospel is the most beautiful gift ever given to humanity. It is the way back to our Heavenly Father and the refuge through the storms of life. I believe in Christ, that He was sent to us to pay a divine price for the sins of the world. Just like we learned in science class, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The same goes for us on a larger scale- every action we take has a reaction. Our sins affect everything and can only be repaired and forgiven through the Atonement. Being Mormon is the restored Gospel of Christ- it's not something some guy made up one day on a whim. It's back to the origin- it's back to the truth. It feels good, it makes sense, it's beautiful, it's inspiring, it's vital and right and good. And there's always free food.

How I live my faith

I attend church (even when I don't feel like it--I mean, hey, all the best farmers' markets are on Sunday, darn it!) and help organize activities for other single adults like me. I try to read my scriptures daily, I pray over my meals, and I try to be kind to everyone I meet. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. I have kept myself sexually clean and am saving myself for marriage. I try to tell the truth (which, frankly, is difficult because I'm a writer and have a great imagination) and work on improving my relationship with the Lord.
