Hi I'm Sam

I am a California guy, love to play soccer, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I grew up in California my whole life. Didn't like school too much, but grew into it when I got into High School. I love learning about science and trying to figure things out and how I can apply religion into a scientific side. Chemistry is my favorite subject and I will be majoring in it when I get to college. Played soccer for about 12-13 years and loved every second of it. Plan on going to BYU and being on their soccer team. Live a normal life and love to hang out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not scared to tell people that I am a Mormon. I want people to know and understand that the gospel helps me in life and brings happiness.

How I live my faith

I always believe that action speak louder then words. I try to be the best example so other people may know what I believe in. I teach people the gospel and love to see the happiness it brings to them. It's not about putting it in their face and trying to convince them the truthfulness of it. For me, it's about showing that the gospel brings happiness to me and my family and it can for the other person. I'm not afraid to tell people that I'm from the LDS church (or the mormon church). I am disappointed when other people won't take the time to test the Book of Mormon, and see if it's not true. I pray that everyone will do what John says in 1 John 4:1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." If they just try it out and see how it can truly bless them they will feel the love of God in their life. I try my best to live the gospel so I can have the feeling of love from my Heavenly Father, and one way is through reading the Book of Mormon.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ, His teachings, and strive to better our lives through His teachings. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

When Jesus Christ lived on the earth, He established his church and ordained apostles and gave them the priesthood. After Jesus Christ ascension, the apostles continued on with the church. They went to country to country, and city to city teaching the gospel and establishing Christ's church in those cities and countries. Soon people started rejecting the message and saught to kill the apostles. After the apostles died, there was no one else who had the priesthood authority on the earth. Through out time, man changed doctrine and took out some things in the bible and put new things in it. They did not teach the full gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith, when he was alive, wanted to know what church was true, because during his life there was a lot of churches that were made. Joseph Smith prayed to know what church was true and recieved his answer. And after that, through Joseph Smith, Christ's church was restored and the priesthood authority was restored and placed on the earth. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Increasing faith in Jesus Christ takes time and patience. I like to go to the scriptures and read about Jesus Christ. Learn the things He taught and performed. Praying after reading all those things and really knowing if Jesus is The Christ. If He is our Savior. That is the start of my faith building. Then I live my life as Christ would. I want to be as Christlike as possible and seeing the change in myself and the love I feel from Heavenly Father for the things I do. It all starts with a step towards Jesus Christ. The more we center our life around Him the more our faith grows in Him. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

I like to go to The Book of Mormon for this answer: "for we know that it is by grace we are saved after all we can do" (2 Nephi 25:23) We believe that when we tried our best to do what is right and try to follow all the commandments of God, then through the grace of Jesus Christ we are saved. We can not learn if we do not try. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries will talk about Jesus Christ. Their whole purpose is to help everyone understand what Jesus Christ did, namely the Atonement. And that we can become better through Jesus Christ. The missionaries are just guides of how we can apply what Jesus Christ taught on earth. They help us know what we can do to get back to our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I know that when we read from the scriptures, namely the Book of Mormon and the Bible, then we can feel the love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We can have a personal connection with our Heavenly Father and we will be able to apply the Atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives more fully. The scriptures help us understand what we can do to better our lives, on how to feel closer and be closer to our Heavenly Father. The scriptures are there for us to find our way back to our Heavenly Father. It is like a map and at the end we will find the gold, the gold of true happiness. Show more Show less
