Hi I'm Stephanie

I love watching tennis, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a chemistry graduate, a musician, and book-lover. I served as a missionary in the China Hong Kong mission. I also love watching tennis, theatre and period dramas, and most of all, I love my religion.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and so I have attended ever since I was born. I learnt many things from my parents about the gospel as I grew up and with the influence of personal scripture study, seminary, youth activities and other spiritual experiences, I came to a knowledge that Heavenly Father has an eternal plan for me, Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that he restored the true church to the earth and that we have a living prophet on the earth today. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true.  Moreover, I cannot imagine my life without the gospel! Where would I be? Who would I be? The answers to these questions do not interest me as I know that with the gospel in my life, I am on the best path anyone could take.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example of a disciple of Jesus Christ by looking for opportunities to serve others, and being kind to those around me. I follow the commandments given through modern-day prophets and lead a clean and healthy lifestyle, that is: I do not drink alcohol or take drugs, I dress modestly, I don't use profanity or take the Lord's name in vain, I live the law of chastity, and take the sacrament every week. Because I had experienced the worth and blessings of following God's plan for us as a child and young adult, I felt it my responsibility and my joy to share that knowledge with other people. I was called to serve as a missionary in the China Hong Kong mission for 18 months. There were difficult times and incredible times, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Seeing people change their lives to live in accordance with God's will was the most humbling and enlightening experience of my life.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Stephanie
Every worthy and able young man of 18+ years is strongly encouraged to serve a mission. It is a magnificent calling and responsibility as when you are serving, you are an official representative of the church and Jesus Christ. Women can serve a mission when they are 19 however they are not required to do so. I always had a desire to go on a mission - to have the opportunity to share the gospel with those who have not yet heard it. To be able to completely dedicate 18 months of my life to missionary work was such a learning experience and enabled me to come closer to God, strengthen my own beliefs and gave me a greater understanding of the plan he has for his children.
