Hi I'm Hayden Hawks

I am a distance runner, a sports fanatic ,exercise enthusiast, and outdoorsman ,I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving an honorable 2 year mission in the Alabama Birmingham Mission! I love doing missionary work, and serving the Lord and his children. Back home i run track and cross country for Southern Utah University. I love going on a long distance run out in Gods gift to me, this world. I spend alot of my time in the outdoors up in the mountains hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, mountain biking, you name it. I am a sports fanatic and exercise enthusiast. The world is my playground! My family is #1 to me, a family man is a happy man in my eyes.

Why I am a Mormon

I can honostly say i am a Mormon because of Faith. I have always had hope that these things were true, but it wasn't until i acted on that hope that i gained Faith and knew this was the way for me to live, this was the right path. I acted on that hope by praying to my Father in Heaven and asked him to show me what his Spirit felt like, for his Spirit to tesify of truth unto me. I testify unto you that i felt that Spirit that Spirit hit me so strong that i thought it was going to throw me against the wall. I have read the Book of Mormon and felt that same Spirit, as I attend church I feel that same Spirit, as i enter the temple that spirit is there, as i teach other people about these things i feel that same Spirit. I gained that Faith that i had been searching for, it is something that i could never deny and have had a witness that these things are true. I know they are true. I am not a very logical person, I simply go off of Faith, but I believe that Faith is the strongest thing out there. Building ourselves upon those basic principles of the Gospel is all we need. Those true basic principles of the Gospel are taught in the Mormon faith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing whatever my Heavenly Father asks me to do. Obeying his commandments, following the words of his prophets, showing my love to him, and applying Jesus Christ Atonement into my life. I am serving the Lord on a mission right now and serving his children. I give my full effort to the Lord and work my hardest for him. The Lord has asked me to do it, so i will do it!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Hayden Hawks
All Mormons are not required to serve a mission. I am actually the first missionary in my immediate family to serve a mission. My dad didn't serve, but the Lord had other things in store for him. Growing up i was never forced to serve a mission, which i greatly appreciate. When the talk about a mission came up it was always my decision! I made the decision to serve a mission on my own after i prayed to Heavenly Father about it. It wasn't an easy decision to make but definitely worth it! I was running track at Southern Utah University and was doing really well. It was a little scary to think that if i gave up two years of my running to serve a mission i would loose everything i had worked so hard for in running. I questioned if i was really going to do this, or if i should just stay and continue exercising the talent that God had blessed me with in running. When you have everything right going for you in life ( or so you may think), it makes it hard. Its when i prayed and got that answer that i knew what to do! I never looked back and served the mission to the fullest! The mission has mean't everything to me, even though i have heard of teammates winning National Championships and going to the Olympics. The mission has mean't more to me than all of that! It was my decision and I will forever be grateful that i made the right decision to serve my God! Show more Show less
