Hi I'm Scott

I'm a dedicated husband and father. I am a physical therapist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and Father to 3 beautiful children. I enjoy playing basketball, watching sporting events, reading, and spending time with my family. I also like to learn about history, exercise science, and religion. I try daily to find the proper balance between family, religion, and personal development...still working on that!

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to be born into a family with loving parents who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church). As a young boy, I felt a desire to be baptized, making a promise to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings. I knew it was the right thing to do because of the peaceful feelings I felt in my heart. Today, I continue to know the church is true as I study the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon, as I pray daily, and as I strive to keep the commandments. I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that Joseph Smith was called by God to bring back the fullness of the Gospel to the earth. We have a living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, that teaches us God's will for us today. I know the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ, a companion to the Bible that brings us closer to Christ whenever we live its teachings. I know that families can be united for the eternities through God's priesthood power, exercised in holy temples. I am a Mormon because I know these things are true.

How I live my faith

My faith is strengthened by knowing that I am a son of God and that Jesus Christ gave His life for my sins. Life loses its purpose if I am unable to repent and become better each day because of my Savior's sacrifice. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps me live my faith by teaching me to give service and sacrifice for others. My life is blessed when I choose to give freely of my time to provide physical and spiritual assistance to others, attend Sunday meetings, study the scriptures, pray individually and with my family, and hold a special family night on Monday nights that strengthens our family ties. I am happiest when my primary focus in life is to bring myself, my family, and others closer to Jesus Christ and His teachings.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Scott
The Word of Wisdom is a phrase from a revelation received by the prophet Joseph Smith regarding a standard of healthy living that church members are commanded to live. The Word of Wisdom teaches us that spiritual and physical blessings of health, wisdom, knowledge, and protection can be obtained by partaking and abstaining from certain foods and drinks. We are taught that grain, wholesome herbs, meat in moderation, and fruit are good for the body and should be received with thanksgiving as gifts from God. We are also taught that coffee, tea, tobacco, and alcohol are not proper to be taken into the body, but that they serve alternate purposes. Those who choose to follow this wisdom, the Word of Wisdom, are blessed with greater spiritual and physical capacity and come to a greater understanding of God. Show more Show less
