Hi I'm Ruth Hope

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in Calif. I have moved all over since being married. I am a Mormon!

About Me

There are many things I love and enjoy! First I am a mother of 7. We wanted a big family from the start of our marriage. We have been married 26 years. My family brings me so much joy. We are best friends. I have been a seamstress since I was 9 years old. It is something that I have a natural knack for and I love it. I love music! I am not accomplished at an instrument or singing but I love music. My children play many different instruments and they are accomplished. I love animals too. They are so beautiful and amazing. They make me know God loves us and he loves variety. We have a cat and 2 wiener dogs. I love to ride bikes. We have many trails to ride and I love to be outdoors. I love to cook. It makes me happy if others enjoy my cooking. I love to eat delicious food too. Traveling is a joy also. It is so fun to see other places, to see how other people live and to see new things. I love museums and historical sights too. There is so much to experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But at a young age I could tell I believed what was being taught. It was all ringing true to me. I wanted to see an angel and prayed to see one so I could know for sure. But then I learned that it was not meant to be that way. We can not learn what is true by just having visions. We must learn faith. I learned we must listen to the spirit telling us right and wrong. Visions fade away but what we know in our hearts does not. That is the purpose of the Holy Ghost. He teaches us in our minds and our hearts what is true. I have read the Book of Mormon, The Bible and the other scriptures and have prayed to know if they are true. I have been told through the Holy Ghost that these are true. Lastly I have tried to live what is asked in the scriptures and to do what they say. I have been given the promises they say will be given. I do not go along blindly on what some one else has said. But like any experiment, you have to try it.

How I live my faith

I believe we should show our belief by living it everyday. I believe we need to try to do the right thing in our everyday life not just on Sunday. Some things that I do to live my faith are going to church, serving in the church and community and trying to be honest with all I come in contact with. I try to give to those who need and what ever I can offer. For example, I volunteer at the soup kitchen, I am in charge of the children in our church on Sundays. I over see the classed and teachers and also teach. I visit certain ladies in our faith and try to be friendly and helpful to all I come in contact with. Of course I am not perfect and no one is but I try. I get better and better each time I do. I believe this life is a process of trying to become what Heavenly Father wants us to be. We will make mistakes along the way but we must keep trying. I also try to live my faith by reading the scriptures. How can we know what we need to do if we don't read Gods words to us?

What is being a Mormon like?

Ruth Hope
It is freedom and peace! When we discipline ourselves with the laws of the Gospel we get more freedom. Much as those who discipline themselves by saving their money can be rewarded with what they want free and clear. We can know that we are on the Lords side and he will be the success in the end.
