Hi I'm Joan

I'm a Mormon convert and a senior missionary.

About Me

I am a mother and grandmother. I worked as a junior high school English teacher most of my professional career. After obtaining a master's degree, I finished my career as a junior high school librarian. I love books, teenagers, quilting and baking cookies.

Why I am a Mormon

I discovered the Mormon church while I was in college. As I was taught about Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father and the Plan of Happiness, it made sense to me. I felt a great peace as I thought about what the missionaries were teaching me. They must have thought I was stupid, because every time they asked if I had any questions, I said, "No". I really didn't have any questions. They were answering questions I had never thought of to ask. I asked to be baptized. They were surprised, but I was sure I had found the truth.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others. I have been called upon to teach on many occasions. I have also discovered the joy of visiting the home-bound. I have been asked to visit members of our church, but I also have volunteered in the community where I live, to visit other home-bound folks. I enjoy serving on committees that make my community a better place to live. You may wonder why I would leave my home, my children, my grandchildren and travel to a distant place to serve a full-time mission. The answer is, I love my Savior. He has work for me to do. The blessings I receive are a closer relationship with my husband, my children learn to depend on each other instead of me and my grandchildren can see an example of service.
