Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a dancer at heart, a writer in my free time and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the youngest of six children and wow was life crazy. I've learned a lot from the mistakes and successes of my siblings, especially the classic "what not to do." Through it all I've learned that life is messy sometimes, but it doesn't have to destroy my optimism and shatter my joys. Family is important and it is the people around me that have buoyed me up in times of trials. I recently ended the adventure of my life, a full time mission, but will soon prepare for the next phase of my life, returning to school.

Why I am a Mormon

In high school I thought I knew everything and was sure that I could hit any curve ball life through at me out of the park. I was raised in the Mormon faith but quit going and was not active. But when I was 17 my older brother died and suddenly life didn't seem so promising. The next two years were the most challenging I have ever encountered and I had so many questions that I couldn't find the answers to. I looked into different religiouns, read books, but nothing satisfied me until I finally resorted to reading the Book of Mormon cover to cover. I got down on my knees and I pleeded to know if it was true and I felt the void in my soul being filled with peace, love, and hope. Those were feelings I had never had before and I knew that it was true. No one could tell me what to believe or what was true, but I had to find it for myself. And I know with all my heart that the gospel is the way to returning to live with my Heavenly Father and Savior someday.

How I live my faith

The small things I do each day make the biggest difference. I start with scripture study and prayer, but throughout the day look for opportunities to serve those around me. Even if it's just smiling at someone or offering to help them with their groceries, I feel so much better knowing that I have helped lift the burdens of others. During my full time, 18-month mission my life was dedicated to service, so now I have to be a little more creative, but the joy is just the same.
