Hi I'm Brennon

I love being happy, I'm an uncle, I'm a son, I'm a sports fan, I strive to help others find lasting peace, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a son. I am an uncle of four and I love my nephews and nieces. I love all things business. I also am a wanna be cowboy when I get the chance and a huge Professional Rodeo fan and above all things I put family at the top of my list.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because ever good thing I have had in my life is because of my Savior and the church. During my high school years I realized that the friends who truly cared about me where those I had met at church activities. I have received teaching experience and a confidence in public speaking because of callings or assignments I have held and the opportunity to give talks in church. Being raised in the church I didn't have to work hard to find the gospel, but I did have to work to receive an answer of the truth and divinity of Jesus Christ and if he had indeed restored His church through the prophet Joseph Smith. I have come to understand the things I need to do to apply the Saviors grace and Atonement in my life that will enable me return to my Heavenly Father and be like Him. While I believe that all churches and religions have good in them, the gospel as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one and only full gospel on this Earth. Our Savior, Jesus Christ lives today. I know these things are true without a doubt in my heart because of the blessings that I have seen in my life of peace and hope in the midst of struggles that we all face in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one step at a time. Growing up I was taught to study information and decide what was right based on my understanding and experience. At certain points in my life I thought I knew everything. After a little bit of time relying on my own knowledge I realized that God only knows everything. As I have begun to recognize that God only knows everything I have begun to trust Him. I believe that faith is trusting in God and keeping his commandments. I have come to understand why I am here on this earth through scripture study and putting things to the test by asking God about what is true and then acting on the answers that I receive from God. The answers I receive from God enable me to push forward throughout my life one step at a time. I am very grateful for a loving God and I strive to be lead by him through all that I do. Currently, I am a part of the effort to share what we believe with others. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we love to share what we understand about The Gospel of Jesus Christ with others because it has helped us so much. A big part of my daily efforts is learning and acting in faith. I'm very far from being perfect and I know that we all are but I know that an attitude of seeking God's will and acting has enabled me to be a much better person and develop into a better follower of Jesus Christ.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Brennon
The Church is against abortion in a majority of cases. The important focus is that every life is important in the eye of God. Often times we focus on the life of the new born child, which is very precious. Often times we forget about the life of the mother. The health of the mother is just as important. The worth of every soul is great in the eyes of God. In cases where the mother cannot provide for the child, the mother is advised to put the child up for adoption. The Church has provided LDS family services to allow adoption to proceed quickly and provide each child with a loving father and mother. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Brennon
Similar to a court testimony, a testimony is an expert knowledge or first hand witness. As we search to know the mysteries of God, we can receive a witness from the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost testifies to us of truth and light. The Holy Ghost allows each of us to know for ourselves what is true and from God. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Brennon
Being a Mormon is having joy. We have our ups and downs just like everyone else but because of the things we learn together I can find peace in the midst of trials. We strive to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I strive to apply the principles that He taught of Faith, Repentance, Making promises to our Heavenly Father, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. When I have been able to apply these principles I am able to feel joy and peace from the Gifts that God wants to give each of us. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Brennon
I do not know why some label Mormonism as a "cult". I have seen labels used in many different ways to point out differences between two groups of people. Many people in todays world are starting to use religion to divide rather than bring together. We do differ from mainstream Christianity. We believe that we have a prophet on the earth today and that the authority that Christ gave to his apostles has been restored allowing us to receive revelation to help us come closer to Jesus Christ. Everything that we believe that differs from mainstream Christianity comes from this belief. Every prophet, including our current prophets, teaches about what we can do to become closer to Christ and how we can build faith and make changes for the better. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Brennon
I have increased Faith in my life bt reading the scriptures and being obedient to the commandments. Many places in scripture the Lord gives us something to test him on and prove if they are true. Try the promises God has given by living His commandments. In my life I have found the answers to any question or concern I have about life by praying and turning to the scriptures which has increased my Faith in Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Brennon
I believe that God is our loving Heavenly Father. He cares about me and wants each and everyone of His children to be successful. He doesn't force us to do anything or think a certain way but He does provide commandments to help us avoid making bad choices because He is all knowing and wants us to be happy. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Brennon
We learn through many verses of scripture that 'whosoever believeth in [Christ] should not perish but have everlasting life'. Having faith in Jesus Christ is the way that we gain salvation. Believing in Jesus Christ is more than just thinking that he is real; it means to trust him by living in harmony with the things that he has taught. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Brennon
I believe that we are saved by grace. I know that I will never be perfect and I also know that I cannot dwell with God unless I am clean. I am so grateful that Jesus Christ has provided away that we can be perfected in him. I also believe that I must do my part to apply the grace that Jesus Christ offers me. We are taught to strive to become our best by following the example of Jesus Christ through Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. When we strive to live by this pattern taught by the Savior we apply what James has taught about showing our faith "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: Shew me thy faith with out thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works" Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Brennon
There are many things that tell me that there is a God, some more clearly than others. The most powerful evidences to me that their is a God come through spiritual feelings. Upon hearing the news that a close friend of mine had been hit by a car and died, I felt very sadden, angry, and a lot of hurt. I didn't feel peace at that moment. I turned to God in prayer and felt the feelings of anger and hurt leave my body. I still was sad at the lose of my friend but I felt peace and assurance that there is a bigger picture and God is in control. I think the best way to know and learn of God is to live the commandments and see if the blessings come. With every commandment God gives us He also promises a blessing. In my life prayer has been a great way to find peace in hard times. I know that God fulfills His promises when we do our part. Show more Show less
