Hi I'm Megan

I wrote my Master's thesis on "The Haunting," and I write Gothic Literature I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mom of one. My interests are limitless: scuba diving, reading, painting, horseback riding, singing opera, watching classic films (Hitchcock is my favorite), hiking--you name it. I don't ever want to skydive. EVER. But anything else, I think I'd try. I love my family, and treasure the time I get to spend with them. I am a stay-at-home mom, working on a novel right now. I like traveling, languages, and Gothic literature. I studied Poe, Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft, and Shirley Jackson in my Master's program.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life, but sooner or later, everyone has to decide for themselves what they believe. At one point, when I was seventeen, I decided I didn't want to be a member of the Church any more. Later that month, I happened to be walking near the LDS temple grounds. The moment I set foot on the temple property, I was overwhelmed with a spiritual feeling--not nostalgia, not guilt, and not emotion, but a transcendent and illuminating burning in my mind and heart, telling me that this was where the truth was. It overcame all my negativity and resistance about being a Mormon. Since then that transcendent feeling has come again and again as I have asked for courage, wisdom and guidance from the Lord in following the tenets of this faith. I know that it truly is Christ's church.

How I live my faith

My husband and I attend church each Sunday, and study the scriptures together throughout the week. We pray before meals and at many other times during the day. We look for ways to serve the people around us, and try to make our home a place where we can commune with God. These aspirations have a wonderful effect on our family life.
