Hi I'm Alex

I'm a husband, father and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a dad! I love reading (when I have the time!), and playing music (on the Trombone). I'm into most Si-fi and I try to exercise by riding my mountain bike!

Why I am a Mormon

I had some very good friends at school who were brave enough, & kind enough, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with me. I was invited along to youth activities & I became interested in the church. I spent the next few years finding out more about 'the Mormons' & what they believed in, when to social activities, & then started to attend church every Sunday. I read the Book of Mormon & tested the promise made in Moroni. I knelt in my bedroom & prayed to my Heavenly Father & asked Him if the Book of Mormon was true. I felt a burning sensation in my chest (which I would later recognise as the Holy Ghost) & I knew with certainty from that point on that it was true! I then reasoned that if the Book of Mormon was true, then Joseph Smith must have been a prophet, that he had seen Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ. I was baptised on my 18th birthday. I know that the Book of Mormon is true & that it is scripture, the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God & that he saw our Heavenly Father with His son Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is our Saviour & Redeemer. I know that the Atonement happened & can have a real impact in our lives, if we let it. My testimony helps me to be a better person than I would be otherwise.

How I live my faith

I guess the only way I can describe how I live my faith, is that I try my best to help, or serve, others. My faith helps me to be a better husband, father & hopefully, friend. It gives me real purpose & direction in my life, & gets me through the difficult times, as well as appreciating the good times. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of my adult life, & I have had the opportunity to serve others through various organisations in the church, from the adult Sunday School, childrens Primary, the youth program, through to the adult priesthood holders, mostly through teaching. I have also served in my local community over the years, including being on the management committee of a citizens advocacy project & a community care scheme. I live my faith by doing things for others & I try to do it by following the example of the Saviour.
