Hi I'm Skyler

I grew up in Utah. I'm an avid basketball fan! I served a two year mission in Nebraska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving my two year mission in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. I like to be outdoors and in the mountains, either hunting, fishing or camping and just having a good time with the family. I am a sports fanatic and love college sports! Giving up tracking them for two years has been hard, but I know that it was/is worth it, while I work for the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but have heard and experienced that each and every one of us have to have our own conversion story. Mine happened right before I came on my mission. I was in college and wondering what I was going to do with my life when I came to a crossroads and had to figure it out. It was at this time when I felt like I really needed to read from the Book of Mormon and pray to know of its truthfulness. I did so and did as Moroni directs, and I asked my Heavenly Father if it was true. There were no heavenly manifestations, angels, or lights, but I did feel a calm assurance that it is the word of God, and that I was needed in the mission field. I do know that this is His church, and He has blessed me with the knowledge and testimony of the truth.

How I live my faith

I try to pattern my life after the Saviors, which is that of service and love. As missionaries we devote two years out of our lives to serving the Lord, and this has brought to me the knowledge that we are all brothers and sisters. I love everyone that I teach and come in contact with and I know that is the Savior blessing me with that love for others. Charity is the pure love of Christ, and we can each have this love and follow Him more closely.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

As a missionary this is a frequently thought of but not asked question from those we teach. What we teach is that God has called a Prophet on the earth today, and why He has done that is because He loves each and every one of us, and wants us to come back to live with Him. He has created a plan for us, provided a Savior, and given us the gospel or path on which we can return to Him. He reveals this gospel message through His chosen prophet. We teach that God loves you and wants you to be the happiest you can be. You can know if what we teach is true through prayer and the feelings of the Holy Spirit. Show more Show less
